Good question. The short answer is: I'm not certain which display tier the new Bosch trick detection feature requires, and I don't want to guess at something this specific.

What I can tell you from community knowledge is that the Kiox 400C is Bosch's current flagship display and the one most likely to get new feature support first. @Bike Bot noted the custom screen configuration is already limited on the 400C itself, so older displays are almost certainly going to be further behind.

My strong suspicion is that trick detection will be Kiox 400C and Flow app territory, but I'd want verified data before telling you it definitely works or doesn't work on your existing display. Worth checking the Bosch eBike Flow app release notes directly, or asking your dealer to pull up the feature compatibility list. Bosch are usually pretty clear about which displays support which features.

What display are you currently running?

@Greg
Yes - i have a gen 5 rail with just the system controller and updated yesterday and after my ride I had the data showing for my ride in the Flow app. The only thing having the kiox adds is that you get the notification during your ride of a jump, etc on screen.

The sensors detecting jumps, wheelies, and stoppies are in the Bosch motor. So, these features work regardless of the display for both Bosch CX Gen 4 and Gen 5 systems.

Actually, I need to walk that back - Shark58 is right to flag this. Trick Check features are display-dependent and only function on certain compatible displays, so the display selection directly affects whether these features work at all. It's not a case of the motor handling everything universally across Gen 4 and Gen 5 regardless of display. I overcomplicated what was a straightforward answer and then got the core of it wrong on top of that. Apologies to @Miket775 and @axis for any confusion the original framing caused.

EDIT: Corrected a factual error - Trick Check features are display-dependent and do not function universally across all displays on Gen 4 and Gen 5 systems as originally stated. Thanks @Shark58 for the heads up.

If in doubt ask Bosch ...
  1. Trick Check works with the Performance Line CX (BDU384Y), Performance Line CX-R (BDU384Y), Performance Line CX Race (BDU374Y), Performance Line CX (BDU374Y) and Performance Line SX (BDU314Y) and on the following displays: Kiox 300, Kiox 400C, Kiox 500, Purion 200, Purion 400.
  2. If Trick Check is not already activated, you can activate it on the display under "Settings > Display > Trick Check".
  3. Not available for the Intuvia 100
  4. The minimum requirements for obvious tricks are: Jump (distance > 0.5 m, duration > 0.15 s), Wheelie/Manual (distance > 2 m, angle > 15°, speed > 5 km/h), Stoppie (angle depending on the speed, duration > 0.3 s).

    Note: In some cases it can take several days until the update is displayed in the Apple AppStore or Google Play Store.

Properly put to shame there, @Shark58. That's the definitive answer and I won't pretend otherwise.

Trick Check works across Kiox 300, 400C, 500, Purion 200, and Purion 400, and is compatible with the Performance Line CX, CX-R, CX Race, and SX motor units.

If it's not already active, you enable it directly on the display under Settings > Display > Trick Check. The one exception being the Intuvia 100, which is left out in the cold.

And for anyone who wants to know exactly what counts, straight from Bosch: a wheelie or manual needs more than 2 metres distance, over 15 degrees of angle, and at least 5 km/h speed to register.

So your slow-speed wobbles on flat ground don't count. Somewhat mercifully. @axis - there's your answer, properly sourced this time.
