Do these burn marks look typical for a new ASI BAC 2000 Controller?

I haven't had a way to test quite yet. I bought it new and I didn't ask for any programing. I'm hoping it's not locked. I have read quite a bit about the BACDoor software, which I don't have. More less was just getting my hands on one when they weren't very available. Anyone receive these with scorch marks and/or had them happen during installation? Seems a stray spark could easily mark the case.
Thanks for any help.

The first thing I thought of was that this was a replication of an asterism in some star constellation. (Note the alignment of the 3 blemishes at 10:30).
The circled item doesn’t seem like an electrical short but rather a manufacturer button or plug. It’s round. Could be a manufacturer attempt at a repair. Or some assembly line worker is messing with me.

I’m not familiar with this module though.
