The cheeb i belive was 29 front 27.4 rear and then FORK Zeb Ultimate 170 front suspnsion and rear was 210 x 55mm, would it casue issues with the slightly smaller frame ???

It will give You a flater steering and seat angle by appr. 1.5 Degree compared to original specs. More downhill / enduro geo, but very good to ride imho.

Actually, that is a great setup. If you are under 6 feet it is better to stick with 27.5" front and rear especially if sticking with the 210x55 Rear shock size. the 210x55 is standard on every size E-10 no matter the wheel size or frame size. The Fork Zeb Ultimate 170mm is also what I plan to upgrade to soon, I plan to go with Cane Creek Kitsuma coil Shock on the rear 215x60 If I can find the custom Yoke I'd need to fit the larger shock, which would be over stroking it. But I've read from several people that it is a great upgrade. You don't need to go to 29" front wheel unless you want to. If under 6foot, or 32" inseam or smaller the 27.5" may be better than the MX setup. This is the E10V2 Frame size differences with 29" rims and 27.5" rims. here is the link to the info for the build I think you are mentioning Dengfu E10 Suspension/Wheel Options
The thread above takes you to the customization Page for E10 and lets you know of custom Yoke Conversions to extend rear travel and other such things. Incase you are interested. Lot's of knowledge on that thread. These are off the LUNA page which uses a 160mm Front fork and 44 offsets. But it gives you an idea of how measurements change when running 29s vs 27.5's. Last photo is E-10 Frame specifications for sizes.

No matter the frame size the max shock size without modifying yoke is 210x55 it doesn't change and the over 6 foot 29s are a choice under 6 feet 27.5" is prob better. Here is linke to customization of the E10V2 with all the info you may need for your build Dengfu E10 Suspension/Wheel Options
Also, some files show e-10 frame measurements and the difference in size between 29s and 27.5" wheelsets in photos

Sorry to drag an old thread out again - Been looking in to an E10 frame and concerned the Large would be too big for me (I'm 180cm). Reach looks fine but the top tube a bit of a stretch.
What I've noticed in the info above is the Dengue Geo chart states 656mm for the top tube, while the Lua chart says 620mm. Which is correct?

Any experience with frame size for someone 5'11 would be appreciated

The medium E10 is a large sizing for medium. I'm 5ft 10 and a bit and the medium is fine.

Why are you looking at the E10, the E82 is now their replacement for the E10 with more modern geometries ?

Mainly the really steep seat tube angle on the e82 is putting me off, they went from super slack on the E10 to super steep on the E82. So the effective top tube on a Large E10 is 660mm and the E82 is 616mm. Ideally I like somewhere around 640mm, 660 is definitely too stretched out so a medium E10 or a large e82 would work.

Modern Ebikes seem to go for the slack tube angle as we tend to climb much steeper terrain with the available power. With slack angles such as on the E10 you can get a touch too light on the front end but to be honest it is something that I have not noticed on my E10 despite climbing far far more than I have ever done.

We tend to sit and climb on the Ebikes but I have noticed lately a number of the pro videos about that they are now coming out of the saddle as the steepness is building up. I tend to climb old mtb style so maybe the seat angle is not having much effect as I'm balancing the bike with my body rather than being static in the seat..

Yes you certainly need to get your body forward on a steep climb, but I just dont like the cramped position with the knees almost touching the bars when you have a really steep seat angle

I‘m definitely with Johns opinion. The trend towards steeper seat angles may make sense with accoustic bikes and shorter chainstays to support steep climbing. But for Ebikes with long chainstay at 455+ mm and the motor power it’s useless imho. The effect is a too short top tube at same reach value (compare E10 and E82 values) leading to a narrow feeling when seated. And an unbalanced, forward seating position with a lot of load on Your hands. No idea why this is becoming more and more common. The E10 geo is perfect for my needs.

Have to admit the E10 is a pretty comfortable all rounder so much so I have no thoughts to change it at the moment. I wonder if its the cramped cockpit on steep climbs thats making the pro riders stand more ?

Glad I’m not the only one :). What height and size e10 are you on. Personally would like a seat angle somewhere between the e10 and e82, they’ve gone croon extreme to the other.

No idea, very little advantage to climbing standing on an EMTB

I‘m 183 cm, size L E10.
A good example is the Specialized turbo levo bikes. The have a moderately steep seat angle around 76 deg, but they have a even bigger reach of 502 mm Size S5 (which would be my choice) resulting in a toptube length of 658 mm, almost same as E10 in size L.

I’m 180cm and comfortable with a top tube of around 640, had Whyte 529 in large and hated it, sized down to a medium and much happier. Currently have the Whyte and a Revel rascal which is similar. Get on well with a reach of 470-480

My E69 which I'm just building up has the same problem of too short top tube with the seat tube so vertical. Sat on it last night to check and yes its cramped compared to my E10 ( both Mediums ), but right size in the leg department. Ordered a longer stem which should bring it back to same as my E10, it will be interesting to see how that effects the ride ?
