Hi all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well,

Just wondering i know the stock YT decoy shock is 230 X 65 but has anyone changed their stock out for a 230 X 60? Is it even possible? And if so how did you get on with it? I know with my Jeffsy it worked out well going from 60 to 65.

Cheers
Chris

You want to shorted your stroke length to 60mm? Why?
Also the Decoy 29 comes with 230x60, but that doesn’t explain my first question.
Thanks,

You can do it if you want 153mm of rear travel. Might have to put an additional volume spacer in the air can to make it ramp up sooner. The bike would be designed to ramp up at the end of its stock stroke and a shorter stroke shock wont use all that ramp up thats designed in the link. Should be do able though.
I want to go the other way and am looking for a shock that can be tuned to go to 70mm of stroke

I have a Decoy too. My normal MTB has a 230x60 shock, both Selects. I was told by my suspension specialist when tuning my shock that all I'd need to do would be to remove a spacer from the shaft to increase the 60mm shaft to a 65mm. Useful to know and should work both ways (y)

I’m pretty sure that removing a spacer will not do anything to the length of travel.

On that particular bike it does. It increases the travel from 170mm to 177mm, as its part of a modification people make to run an aftermarket linkage. That is shock stroke length adjustment on its own, and in conjunction with new link gives 190mm. Obviously every suspension design is different so would give different length results on different bike designs and suspension layouts. Also must consider the rear tyre fouling frame at full compression.

Do you know who makes a linkage like this for the Decoy?

Did you ever do this, I would like to try it too.

Been running a dvo jade as my cc db is off for a rebuild. Jade is more active. Works well with my progressive coil . Great for the slow tech around here. Gets hung up less but bb/pedals end up running a smidge lower, with the shock being more active off tye top

HI,
I also have a question. Can I use this kind of shock in the Decoy? Back bearing system from Rockshox, front normal bushings. I think this should work. Anyone using this kind of shock?
