I recently upgraded my saddle and after a lot of trial and error, I landed on a SDG Bel Air III
It's the right mix of firm and padded, with good ergonomics for me and I feel far better after a long ride than I did with my stock Merida saddle.

I have also used a few others, most notably a Charge Spoon, a DMR OiOi and a Syncros Aspect M 3.0.

Of those, the Syncros was probably the best until I tried the SDG Bel Air, which is my current fave.

I know a lot of people here like the Ergon saddles, but I've never tried one and they're very spendy here in NZ.

Ergon SM Enduro for a few years now... can't imagine changing it, stopped wearing bibs/padded shorts once I got it.

That's the thing with saddles though, no real way to find out what works for you until you've bought one. I know the roadie crowd can get their butts measured which as I understand it involves sitting on a tray of plasticine or something - don't ask me, they're a bunch of weirdos! - so if you can't find one that works, I would try that.

Sit on a sheet of corrugated cardboard on a hard flat chair and measure the imprint. Of your bum, not of the dangly bits of course. ;)

Used the SQ lab measure kit, then followed their recommendation chart and have been running their saddles on all my bikes for years with no issues. Turns out my sit bones were much narrower than I thought.

An additional point would be this:
Draw a circle around the two bum-cheek prints and estimate the centre, placing a dot there. Measure the distance between the dots. That is your sit bone width. Buy a saddle that is 20-30mm wider at the shoulder than your sit bone width.

It will make no difference how soft the saddle is, if it is on or narrower than your sit bone width. If you go too wide, then it starts to interfere with getting off the back of the saddle. When stood up and descending over rough ground, the saddle will be whipping back and forth between your thighs. You don't want it too wide for that!

PS: If you have a really fat arse, then sitting on corrugated cardboard will not work. Instead use the method used by Rachel Atherton in her WTB-sponsored video. Measure the width of your wrist and double it. I didn't believe it either, but it worked for me.

Tried several saddles including SQ lab saddles, not happy with any of them including the 60X Infinergy Ergowave Active. After several here praised their WTB Koda saddles bought one and bingo, is great.

Its a very much personal preference.

I've got two Ergons SM-E Mountain and SM-Pro Ti, also got a SQlabs 60x ergowave (not infinergy)

Bums are different, for me WTB Silverado has been comfiest. Specialized are ok too for me and on HT I have Ergon Enduro SM comp and on that it’s really comfy but on previous Levo it didn’t work…which is weird 😀

Go for a bike fit and ask what saddle width is right for you.
It makes a big difference in comfort

I have a Ergon SM E-Mountain Core Prime Men M/L and a few days ago I did a bike fit with him

Here the sadlle pressure analysis with me on it

I also ride on SM E-Mountain Pro, and I'm happy with it. I've had practically every Ergon mountain bike saddle, including the newest SMS, but SM E is the most comfortable for me. I made a video about it on YouTube:

I'm an older man with a delicate back and a skinny butt . I ride a 2019 carbon levo with a Ergon St core evo saddle.
Its a dream ride , so comfy.

I ride 50km on my Rail five days a week. I use a Selle SMP Lite 209 as I prefer to wear normal shorts when riding as prostate issues are a concern (and not just for me). They take some adjusting to get them right but when you hit the sweet spot its the bomb. I would stress that dual suspension requires more trial and error with this seat than a hardtail does.
That said, everyones build is unique and none of these suggestions may be right for you. I have a shelf full of seats to show for my experimentation. I'd suggest asking friends if they've got seats they dont use that you can try. You may be pleasantly surprised and find a hundred dollar seat that is amazing for you.

I ride the Ergon SM Comp. I have bought this saddle for each of my bikes due to the noticeable improvement over stock seats. Ergon has a fitting chart but I have heard mixed things on its accuracy.

I’ve had the Selle SMP E-sport saddle on my bike for the last two and like it. Similar to your saddle. I commute to work on a daily basis, weather permitting. Have the Selle SMP TRK on my other ebike and also like that too.

Tried the Ergon SM E-mountain core prime and not for me. Probably ok if you ride in a more upright position rather than in a more sporty position..
