Anyone recently fitted a new chainring, I’ve cleaned everything up but I’m not sure if I should use some kind of grease on the back of the chainring where the chainring butts up to the seal on the motor, any help would be appreciated please.

No point at all putting grease there, it will only get washed away, if any remains it will attract grit and act like grinding paste against your motor seal

Hi there Philly G, many thanks for your reply mate, I honestly did think about that but I thought it’d be a good idea just to double check with someone else on here with ultimately more knowledge on these things, thanks buddy.👍

All good mate, I've learned the hard way sometimes you can do more harm than good, "killing with kindness"

Yep I’ve been there too mate, I’ll just give it a good clean and maybe use the tiniest dot of light machine oil just on the rubber seal so it’s not completely dry, I’m thinking about friction reduction 😉
