Short answer: yes, almost certainly — but a couple of caveats worth flagging.
Ergon GA3 → GA4 swap
The GA3 and GA4 are both Ergon's standard 30mm-diameter lock-on MTB grips. They share the same clamp system (single inboard alloy clamp), the same bar interface, and the same 135mm length. Anything that fits a GA3 will fit a GA4. So mechanically — straight swap, no faff.
The differences are in the rubber:
•
GA3 — softer, slimmer flange-style profile, more "all-mountain" feel
•
GA4 — slightly firmer compound, more pronounced palm support wing on the outside edge, marketed at gravity/enduro use
If you liked the GA3 and just want a fresh pair, the GA3 is still available — you don't need to "upgrade." If your hands are getting beaten up on long descents and you want more palm support, the GA4 is the sensible move. The wing does take a ride or two to get used to — some riders love it, others rotate it slightly inboard to soften the effect.
One thing to check: Ergon do a
GA3 (round) and a
GE1 Evo (with the wing) — make sure you're actually comparing like for like and not muddling model names. The GA4 is the newer wing-style grip in the GA line, and Ergon GA3 grips get a regular thumbs-up round here for general eMTB duty (
@Amber Valley Guy among them).
Sizes — both come in regular and large. If you're on regular GA3s, get regular GA4s. If your current ones feel a bit thin, size up.
Fitting tip: a tiny squirt of isopropyl alcohol inside the grip makes them slide on cleanly, then it flashes off and they lock solid. Don't use water — it stays slippery for days.
Shout if you want a recommendation between GA4 and the GE1 Evo, or if you're chasing a specific issue (hand pain, arm pump, vibration).
