I was thinking about getting another battery for those massive days out when one battery just isn't enough. I was thinking I'd get the bosch powertube 400wh battery and use that for my quick rides after work etc as well as acting as a range extender for big rides, as it would save a considerable amount of weight over the 625wh battery that I currently have.

But looking on the bosch website, it looks like the 400wh and 500wh powertube batteries are exactly the same weight at 2.8kg. With the 625wh battery coming in at 3.6kg.

Seems odd that the 400 and 500wh batteries are the same weight, is this correct or a misprint on the bosch website?

There seems little point in offering the 400wh battery if it's the same weight as the 500wh.

Something else to consider, if you havent, is can your bike take the 400?
Mines a 625, and the clamp can only be moved to take the 500.

Assuming the 400 is shorter than the 500. Picture looks the same length on the bosch site as the 500, but odd that its as heavy also.

400 and 500 are the same dimensions, so it should physically fit.

I'm just surprised it's the same weight as the 500, seems no point in having it in the lineup unless it's to hit a lower price point.

Yeah, seems a bit strange if same size and weight.

Considered gettting a 500 myself a few weeks ago, to carry as spare for longer rides. Ended up getting a second 625 and the evoc eride backpack with dedicated sleeve for the spare.

Ive carried it on most of my rides so far, the weight isnt actually that noticable when its secured in the pack. Dont really think twice about taking the spare "just incase"
