Morning :)

(2019 E-sommet VR, 1600kms)

Last week I joined a few fellow Ebikers & took part in a pretty epic night ride.

They were all on new-ish 600+ wH machines. The ambient temp was just below freezing.

We covered about 20 miles with a lot of climbing, and reached a decision point on the way home - fun route or boring road route. As the owner of the smallest battery, I had the casting vote - and seeing 2 bars on the display, I thought I'd be fine taking the fun option.

2/3rds of the way up a brutal climb the two bars just disappeared :D

It took me 45 very sweaty minutes to finally make it home (there was no way I could pedal it up!).

I understand the effect of cold on Li-on performance, but it was still a shock.

So here are the questions:
1. Is it probable that the battery has degraded & needs replacing?
2. does anyone here ride carrying a spare, and if so, how?
3. are there any companies that can re-cell my pack & upgrade the capacity?
4. where's the best place to get a backup pack?
5. Is it easy to swap the mounts to use the new 630wH pack and are the new mounts backwards compatible?

You can check the health of your battery using 3rd party apps. I use emax but stunlocker s good
Deuter e pocket is good if you've already got a decent back pack, then you'll need to buy a 2nd battery. I got mine from the wooly hat shop.
There's companies on ebay will check your battery for around £30 then re- cell as needed.

Have you got a light hardwired into the bike?

Naah. Exposure Maxx D on the bars & Diablo on the lid. I'm pretty sure it's health + subzero temps on that ride, it's been pretty dependable since. I can't decide whether to go for the cheapest 504wh pack I can find & carry it, or go for the 630.
