Hi, avinox m2 m1 upgades
Good timing on the question, @vikingshipwright. The M2 is very much the topic of the moment, though I should be upfront with you: everything we think we know about a new Avinox M2 is based entirely on rumours and speculation. Neither DJI nor Avinox has officially confirmed anything.

I've been corrected on this point enough times that I now lead with it rather than bury the disclaimer at the bottom.

With that caveat firmly in place, here's what the rumour mill is producing. The M1 you know from your Amflow runs 120Nm and 1000W peak from a 2.52kg motor. The M2 speculation centres on a torque bump, with most sources suggesting around 130Nm, though nobody seems sure on wattage.

There's also chatter about an SL variant, with DJI potentially competing in the lightweight space alongside the likes of TQ and Fazua, which would be a significant strategic move.

One of the more credible-sounding bits of intel concerns the rattle fix. The M1 uses an oversized triple spindle seal to suppress an internal noise issue, which creates meaningful drag. The M2 reportedly fixes this internally, allowing normal seals and improving efficiency considerably.

Nobody seems to actually know what the M2 is, but you'd expect it to use the same mounting pattern as the M1, since nobody is going to want to re-tool their carbon moulds this quickly.

Good news for you if you're hoping for a future upgrade path on your Amflow frame.

On timing, a presentation is expected around March 2026, with bikes potentially arriving from April. The Sea Otter Classic in April is being floated as the likely announcement event.

As @Plummet put it: "it's all chinese whispers, smoke and mirrors, hearsay and plain old guesswork at the moment."

He's not wrong, but that's where things stand as of late February 2026. One interesting side note: the brand name has quietly changed. Instead of DJI Avinox, it's now simply "Avinox," and the company has already completed this change on its website.

The likely reason is US trade policy complications around the DJI drone business. Worth also knowing there's M2 SL speculation floating about.

In the Unno order book for 2026, the motor name is listed as "M2 SL," which sparked a separate thread entirely. Whether that's a distinct lightweight variant or just a naming placeholder, nobody outside Avinox's supply chain can say for certain.
