Are AXS upgrade worth it?

The benefit of either system is that once adjusted there is no reason to have to do any further adjustments. I have not touched my AXS for 2.5 years! Possibly ( not yet had time to prove this) but T Type AXS should require even less given there is no high/low or B tension adjustment.
Now that I think of it, I haven’t touched either of my AXS derailer systems. On the fuel EXE T-Type derailer, the LBS set it up in January …haven’t touched it since.

As far as the cost of those systems …I could have a really good time in Vegas for about a week or more for the same price. 👍🏻(including flight, hotel, meals, taxes and taxi 🚕). Or I could have a clean cockpit, avoid getting tangled in cables when I go OTB’s, enjoy smooth shifting etc…

I think you're on to something: Install the Tranny Derailleur, book the flight, come to Vegas, and enjoy the great desert riding all within a short drive of your five star hotel and restaurants.

I am not sure, I got a new to me bike during the summer and it has the X01 AXS and I am unsure at the minute about it. I am having random periods of time where it won’t shift into the smallest gear and as sods law would dictate, when it has been at the mechanic it didn’t do it.

I just am not sure if it’s good or bad - mostly just different.

Did find this answer on ytube

I’m glad I watched this video again. It assured me that my decision to go AXS GX was the right one. Credit to the Loam Ranger for posting a review on this product. But I think some of the Con’s might slide over to the Pro’s category, for me anyway.

For my purpose, and my style of riding, this was the answer. Besides the cost and weight penalty, quite smooth and fast, combined with the Shimano XT cassette and HG chain, convinced me.

This system probably influenced me to purchase the AXS Reverb dropper. (another weight penalty and stupid cost). But now I love that also and my Fuel EXE really wants one 🙄.

No they are not. I have Deore on my eBike, and SRAM GX and XO AXS on my bikes.

The Shimano Deore is great. Works just as well as the GX/XO.

The XO level is more durable than the GX level.

However, for my eBike, I am going to Shimano linkglide when my Deore wears out. It's entirely purpose is durable.

My buddy, who has the identical eMTB, but weighs 40+ lbs more than me, is considering the link glide chain and cassette. He has ridden my AXS system and loves it …but doesn’t need it.

He’s snapping chains and chewing through cassettes faster than I. But my range is better and my skill is way below his. We still ride together though.

I have done four rides and around 100km's on AXS upgrade kit. I toasted few derailleurs and hangers in short time and purchased this only because it maybe could stand hits better 😀 . Haven't crashed or hit it anywhere so don't know if it was good purchase in that sense but I'm suprised how much better the shifting is ❤️Now I know why people are using these. Don't know how I get along with this in long run, didn't really want more batteries to charge but this first impression is really good. Derailleur is big and bulky but I don't see it while riding..and that pod style shifter is amazing, great ergonomics. Cleaner cockpit is always a bonus...

This is a common issue with the GX derailleur, the battery sits flat on the pogo pins so any water that gets in there doesn’t drain away and eventually corrodes the pogo pins. SRAM has been replacing them under warranty for original owners for a while now. My mate has been buying up “broken” GX derailleurs, replacing the pogo pins then reselling them.
Does he want to fix my X01 that has a broken pogo pin? 😂

Place I got it from no longer exists and the guy is a fud anyway so can't even get a warranty replacement done on it

I’m sure he would if he was still in the UK. He’s an ROV operator/engineer, it was getting harder and harder for him to find work here so he left. He’s in Texas now doing ROV stuff for one of the oil companies for the rigs in the gulf.

I’d try to contact ZYRO and see what they could do for you, if that fails maybe SRAM customer support. I know they were replacing the failed GX ones with no questions asked.

Ah fair, I'll try and reach out to SRAM and see if they can help as well

The battery cage, on the AXS GX derailer, seems to fit rather loosely. Mine fell off after a crash on a trail and I couldn’t find it. (I assumed once I noticed it was missing).

So I ordered a replacement red one from Amazon. It was a tighter fit and was likely 3D printed.

Ironically, my buddy found one on a trail, in the area where I crashed a year + before.

Is it mine? Who knows? But now I have a spare.

Edit; hmmm? 🤔 it seems I posted about this last year. But the black cage was found last week.
