Amflow comes to USA July 11th

Large pro weighing in at 46lbs with pedals and tubes. This scale has been in front of Bike Barn for more than 40+ years, it might be a little off.

Wow. That's a lot more expensive than Australia. Is there tax to pay on that ? If yes then how much tax for a bike shipped to Seattle ? Thx.
I’d expect you’d pay sales tax for whatever state you’re shipping it to just like any other online purchase.

We don't have that in Australia. The price is the full price, everything included. So I just wondered what the full price would be.
 
weight has already been established, and different scales never read the same. And a 1lb difference makes you look petty

Believing the 40 year old scales because it gives you a 1lb lighter bike makes you look thin skinned…

It weighs what it weighs, but it does put to bed this idea that somehow it’s an ‘SL with a full power motor’.

Enjoy your bike, had my mates Large model on the scales in my workshop over the weekend, weighed a bit more than the medium, but not by much.
 
Mountain Bike Rider Magazine has checked the weight of the bike Vs the Amflow claimed weight. Results are below. There's no need to speculate.

Size L in the PL Carbon was checked at 21.52kg, whilst Amflow claim 21.2kg. Thus a 300 gram discrepancy.
Size L in the PL Carbon Pro 800Wh was checked at 20.6kg, whilst Amflow claim 20.3kg. Once again a 300 gram discrepancy.

Size L in the PL Carbon Pro 600Wh Amflow claim 19.3kg. So with the 300 gram discrepancy would probably weigh 19.6kg.

Nobody is guessing, I weighed my mates in my workshop over the weekend, he was curious what it actually weighed with pedals and some Michelin e-wild tyres on it versus some of my e-bikes.

His Large PL Carbon weighed in at 22.6kg, or as near as dammit 50lbs.

Competitive for a full power e-bike with 800Wh and decent cased tyres, so what is everybody defensive about?

I like the DJI motor, albeit he had it set to NZ mode (does anybody here in the UK run it road legal?!), and will certainly be interested in one if and when it comes with a different frame wrapped around it.

Then it has had a kilo of modifications.

Any bike can be made to weigh any weight above it's original weight, if you add weight to it. But it does not change the factory weight of the EMTB. And in the case of that bike. It would be 21.52kgs as confirmed by MTR Magazine.

Hence why the undisputed weight of the factory EMTB needed to be established. No misrepresentation from modification needs to be attributed. The question of weight of the Amflows being sold by Bike Barn has been answered. Can we move on ?

Took this thing out for its madden voyage this morning and all I can say is it does not disappoint. Setup as a mullet and got more pedal strikes than my Levo. I will put a 29" rear wheel on later this week and try again.

It feels 2x as powerful as my Gen 4 Levo in 1000 Watt Turbo mode. And can someone help me explain why it feels 20% better in 750 Watt turbo mode.

I have a Levo Expert model with 101 Nm

Rode 11 miles in 48 minutes

Setup as a mullet and got more pedal strikes
welcome to my world on my Canyon spectral mullet. My buddy broke his toes with flat peddles because they ride so low.

It takes getting used to, but you can avoid them with practice
 
I will put a 29" rear wheel on later this week and try again.
Put 150mm cranks on it. The SRAM Eagle 90 come in 150mm and fit the DJI motor. The handling of the Amflow is improved IMO, with the mullet. And I actually prefer the shorter cranks, though I'm only about 175cm tall.

Once again a speculative comment. Here are the facts.

Changes were made. Hence a modification.

I have made many modifications to my Amflow PL Carbon Pro.

1) Smaller rear wheel.
2) Lighter seat
3) TPE tubes
4) Shortened the handlebar.
5) Replaced many of the bolts with titanium bolts.
6) Light-weight nylon SPD pedals. (300grams for the pair)

This configuration makes the bike marginally lighter than the out of the box weight.

I also have a Cross Country configuration with gravel tyres for when I do long journeys in the outback. This removes another 500 grams. You don't see me telling people that the Amflow weight is below the factory quoted value, when they ask the weight of a showroom bike. This would be disingenuous as I have "Made Changes". Hence "Modified" it.

Gotcha, thought you were ordering one in the US. So it depends on the state you live in, sales tax varies from 0% in a handful of states up to about 7-7.5% in the highest states with everything in between. US laws require the seller to charge the sales tax based on where it’s being shipped to I believe.

Out of box. They have tubes. I got mine out of box. I have kept tubes, but switched to TPU tubes (About 40 grams each). This makes it easy to swap out my tyres, without getting sealant everywhere, but similar weight to tubeless.

I keep a tpu in my water sack as a spare, and run tubeless. Pinch flat in the middle of nowhere on a tire next to the rim where it cant be patched or plugged, sucks. So I keep a spare to save me walking X amount of miles and often im 15 miles out. It does not happen often but about every 2000 miles. Best thing I did was switch to Scorpion Etires. Great casing that is awesome even with low pressure. Every Maxxis I have ever had I have popped if they get below 20lbs due to all the rocks here

Yep. That's how I started using them. But when I realised I could drop about 300 grams by using them all the time. I fitted them permanently.

Sure I could go tubeless. But as I said. I swap my tyres when I go outback touring. And it's a bit messy changing out regularly with sealant present.
