Agreed.....apart from I hate the expression "game changer" what fucking game!!?? What does it really change?

So true. This thread reminds me of when I turned up with an e-bike to ride with my usual group of mates back in 2019, whilst they were all still on manuals. The contempt and even hatred was rampant and I simply put it down to blind prejudice and envy.
Guess what, here we are, a few years later and they are all now on e-bikes.
What company did you use to import it?
Yes, I agree. Sport changers. The bike motor, battery and electrics are game changers, the bike itself as a frame and components is nothing special and par for course.
That’s kinda what I’m getting at- if you haven’t ridden it, why be combative with any poster about it’s merits. Go ride one instead, and contribute from an informed position.
If you’d ridden the Motor, you
wouldn’t say “leaving aside the motor”…and for those
that want to ride that motor, it’s the only option currently.
Let people enjoy their experience and tell others about it…. You come across
like you are on the payroll of the other motor/bike manufacturers- deployed to discredit/downplay the motor/bike with no experience of it!
No need to start whining just because you've maxed out your dad's credit card.
Stop acting like a teenager I don't bother to answer all your comments but I'll be happy to meet you in Norway. No need to reply, unless you have something meaningful, honest, and genuine, to contribute.
BTW - For all you know, ....I could be old enough to be your daddy.
Also BTW - your wife, is jealous.
Happy to fly to Norway, so you can try to look me in the eyes, and say that. I can afford it on my own , BTW, and I will fly first class.
hey buddy, check the delimiting section. The Amflow is a great bike no doubt about that, i dont mind a bit of flex on the back end. But the one point i dont like is that when hit hits the UK limiter 15.5 it feels like someone pulling you off the bike, none of my S of the post 5 years were like that all very smooth an progressive.
I am OK, i run 00852 from the region menu and have a VPN if required. But have rode a few mates bikes that have done the SW upgrade and dont have a VPN so locked to UK region. Dont get me wrong its a nice bike and the fast charging is useful . But if i had to pick between the AmF locked to UK cut off and my 4 years old S Works levo to same, it would take me like nano sec to pick one.hey buddy, check the delimiting section.
In know what you mean about the levo frame, its looks like a Tank, the Amflo looks almost like a normal bike. I hope the Gen 4 Spaz S works Levo looks goodI agree it's pretty draggy when the motor isn't doing its thing. Just lubing the chain on the stand you can really feel drag. The levo was heaps smoother but for the life of me I hope the new iteration is a bit more slim lined, that massive bulge around the cranks looks shite.
great summary on amflow thank you. in France it has been available for 15 days and many people order it in storeHi ebike fans, I’m new, I initially didn’t see there was a dedicated “reviews” section on this forum. I posted a review in another thread,……. Sorry, Newbie face slap!
Anyway, why has no one written a review here on this bike yet, I wonder?
Here is my review of my new Amflow PL. (800 wH), (in the proper place in the forum this time, adding some things)
Background - I have owned or ridden every system on the market, over the last 8 years, and have been riding MTB’s basically my entire life…. My Most recent bike, has the bosch (delimited.)
I have 7 rides on my AMFLOW so far, now over 100 miles.
Performance: I had some reservations having to buy without trying, but got some input from a friend in Europe. From that, I had high expectations, but after riding it, it met and definitely exceeded my expectations. In my opinion - The AMFLOW should have been “the eMTB of the year,” and the it’s definitely the “eMTB of the last decade.”
The performance of this bike is absolutely insane, in terms of power, torque, but also in terms of control. The motor output based on rider input, is super impressive, especially when climbing. When hitting the 20 mph limit, it doesn't just cut out, rather it smoothly lets you off, while maintaining some support at the 20 mph mark. I ‘d say the control (motor controller) is in a class of it's own. I would have guessed DJI would use sensorless FOC control (like drones) but with the encoder on the back wheel, and perhaps there are also halls on the motor, not sure, can’t tell - anyway I suspect its sensored closed loop control, and regardless, it is really excellent.
There is a “sweet spot” for every gear, in terms of cadence. The motor really shines and puts out, at higher cadence, and smoothly cuts back at lower cadence. But even so, somehow, with lower cadence, if you need the torque (this is most noticeable when climbing steeps in lower gears), it is there.
Acceleration is nothing short of awesome. IT really comes out of the corners, fast, if you are in the right gear, with the right cadence.
Climbing is the best part of this bike, for me. I have never enjoyed climbing hills like this. IT will climb just about anything the tires still have traction for. no lift needed, for sure, if it was in a DH bike.
Range: I have the 800 wH Pro. (note I have the modes all tuned for max power on the app)
I have been getting a consistent 17 miles riding 100% on turbo (with 8% left in the battery), cross country super technical terrain.
I haven't tried trail mode only for an entire ride, to see what range I get, (turbo has been too much fun.) ..but plan to.
I’ve hit the boost a couple of times in each ride.
With a mix of trail and turbo, mostly turbo, I got near 20 miles. Maybe did 5 of those miles on trail mode.
The weight (lack of) of the battery is really noticeable, especially when I get back on a bosch with a 625 wH battery. The weight and balance of the bike in general, feels perfect.
I think, at least for me, the 600 Wh battery, would be too small, but that really depends on what kind of riding mode you are using most of the time, and your riding style, how many miles you like to do, per ride, etc.
The boost mode is wonderful, amazing, but hard to find a place to use in tight singletrack or technical, unless hitting a big hill. It seems, the boost, noticeably drains the battery a bit each time, which is to be expected, the motor is probably running hot, and not as efficiently.
Technology - the app, the touchscreen, etc - is also super nice and superior to anything else. For any that understand and appreciate motor and gear technology, the dual planetary with helical stage (that's for noise), offset to the spur, I think, is super smart. IT looks like (from the website pictures) only the helical stage is plastic, but its larger than the other stages, so should be strong compared to the metal stages, but it also depends on what kind of plastic they used.
Time will tell for reliability and life. I plan to ride the hell out of this bike, always on turbo, so plan to find out. First year on the market, I know I am one of the guinea pigs, but was happy to take that risk, for the reward.
IN my last review post , I stated that “Getting back on the bosch feels like I stepped out of a 2025 Ferrari, and into a 1980's ford focus.” OK, that’s not really true, I was exaggerating…to much adrenaline from the ride.
It’s more like stepping out of a twin turbo Ferrari, into something like a Toyota Camery (V6, no turbo).
Still, there is no comparison really, the DJI just RIPS with the feeling of monstrous power. Compared to my bosch…it just gets you where you are going.
Initially I thought I might be disappointed with the travel @ 160 mm front, and 150 mm back, but this bike really handles fantastically from 0 - 20 mph and with most hits. ITs not a downhill bike, but not far from the feel if an enduro bike. I will probably upgrade to a 170mm Fox 38 up front eventually, but super happy with the 36 on this bike at the moment.
Downsides:
No higher travel - enduro / DH versions yet.
Only available in a few countries so far. If you want one in a country not supported yet, you have to buy it in one of those few countries like I did…and ship it. (took me about 2 months).
1st year out, not a bike for the risk adverse.
Overall:
All the technical aside, Riding an ebike, has never been so much fun, this bike is beyond SICK! Definitely Superior to anything out there on the market today in terms of feel, performance, and power density.
This is the ebike of my dreams, pretty much exactly what I’ve been wishing someone in the industry would do, for so long…for the last 8+ years in fact. FINALLY! A powerful, fast, high torque bike with decent battery capacity - that doesn’t weigh a ton, or feel like a shit ton of bricks.
I am absolutely love riding this Beast, such an awesome job and bike, DJI.
In conclusion, my initial review is that DJI Crushed it on all 3 eMTB parts: the battery, the drive, and the display. They did a pretty nice job on the 4th part too (the bike).
yeah, I know what you mean, a buddy of mine, thought there was something wrong with the bike, when I first got it.... a lot of drag and friction in the system. I could feel it. After riding it a bit, however, it "breaks in" ... noticeably a bit smoother now. Probably the grease packing in, would be my guess.I agree it's pretty draggy when the motor isn't doing its thing. Just lubing the chain on the stand you can really feel drag. The levo was heaps smoother but for the life of me I hope the new iteration is a bit more slim lined, that massive bulge around the cranks looks shite.
Wondering if you can help me decide. Not sure whether to get the pro version or basic model of amflow. Is the difference worth it. Does the pro version perform that much better than basic model. Is suspension a noticeable difference.Hi ebike fans, I’m new, I initially didn’t see there was a dedicated “reviews” section on this forum. I posted a review in another thread,……. Physics is Physics. The Amflow has 75% more peak power than the Bosch. So if you use both bikes it in their most powerful modes. The Bosch powered bike will go further as it uses 75% less power, but will go much slower. It's like a V8 Vs a 4 cylinder. This range seems bad. I got 39 miles on my mondraker crafty r 25.5 kilos - 750 Bosch in turbo all way with 8 per cent left. I am thinking about the amflow but worried cant get range of my Bosch.
Agree 2 + 2 = 4 . Not 2 +2 = 3 like Amflow would like to make out . Not a clue about physics just common sense to me . Happy ridingPhysics is Physics. The Amflow has 75% more peak power than the Bosch. So if you use both bikes it in their most powerful modes. The Bosch powered bike will go further as it uses less power, but will will go much slower.
But if you use both bikes at the same power, which can be done by running the Amflow in a lower mode. The efficiency of both motors seems quite similar, So the Amflow will go further, as it is a lighter system, with a bigger battery.
You cannot change the laws of Physics.
Here's the PhysicsNot a clue about physics just common sense to me .
Another small lesson in physics:Here's the Physics
The energy in a battery is Watt Hrs. So a 800 Watt hr battery can roughly put out 800 Watts for one hour. But if you only use 400 Watts. It will last 2hrs.
Riding on a perfectly flat road. 400 Watts for 2 hrs will allow you to travel further, than 800 Watts for 1 hr, due to losses. Losses are things like wind resistance. Double your speed, you create 4 times as much wind drag. Once again, thats the Physics.
But there is no reason you cannot run the Amflow at 400Watts power output to also get 2hrs of riding, at the same speed as the Bosch. There is a power meter on the front display of the Amflow, so you ride using whatever power you want. You just tune the Modes to your desired power requirement.
Then you will travel further on the Amflow, because it has a slightly larger battery.
Hope that makes sense.
Seems same as I was told . Dial power back you will go further .Here's the Physics

BrilliantAnother small lesson in physics:
If I bought an Amflow, my Missus would give me a good dose of the physics to my face and nether regions.

I tried to sell my Marin EMTB, but the guy turned up and wanted the the Merida. When he made an offer only AUD$1000 less than what I paid 12 months ago. The wife stepped in and said, "SOLD"
I've also sold my Analogue MTB. But that had been sitting unused for 3 years. So I wasn't concerned, even though I only got 40% of what I paid 4 years ago.
