I've worn my 34" ones a few rides now and they are very waterproof

You could have returned the size 36". The internet companies are used to it and it is costed into their business models. But of course if we all abuse it, it will eventually break.

PS: I have no idea which model of Fox Ranger pants I have, but they are brilliant! My first long trousers for mtb. I wish I had got them before because they completely stop all the bramble cuts on my shins. Probably too hot for the Summer though!
