Are hip replacements not an option for you so you can keep riding? They are now a very common and successful surgery with a reasonably fast recovery.

Yes but waiting list is years long and cant afford private

I’m sorry to hear you have that situation in the UK, because I know so many people who have greatly benefitted from hip replacements. In the U.S. most people under 65 have to rely on their employer for group healthcare and pay into that. But once we reach 65, the government Medicare program provides healthcare at fairly low cost, and there aren’t usually long wait times for typical surgeries. There are some countries that have high-quality healthcare and low costs for surgery if you’re willing to consider surgery abroad. “Medical tourism” is an important part of the economy for these countries. See, for example, What You Should Know About Medical Tourism

Thats an interesting suggestion thank you

You're welcome. I recommend that if you decide to pursue that option, you find a surgeon with a strong resume who specializes in joint replacement, has performed hundreds of hip replacements over a decade or more, and who has very positive online reviews from patients who had that procedure. And, of course, you should first exhaust conservative approaches (such as oral pain/inflammation medication, Voltaren gel, cortisone injections, weight loss, and physical therapy) and get an opinion from a UK doctor that you are a good candidate for hip replacement. Hope you find a way to keep riding. Good luck!
