Review: l bought this bike because it was available in my size, ebikes are in short supply at the moment and l am a long time Kona fan anyhow.

So, l've now been out on it about twenty times, and l am very happy with it. l think it looks great, although it's not the lightest ebike at 24kg.

The motor is a STEPS 8000 and it seems fine, it's a bit noisy particularly when climbing in low gears and has been superseded by the better EP8 but it performs well.

The suspension seems to work well, it's a Rock Shox Lyric up front and piggyback rear shock. The rebound adjustment is on the top of the shock which is a great idea as it's so easy to adjust.

l don't like the SRAM shifter although nobody else seems to complain, you can't shift up without moving your hand around the bar.
You get used to it though! And shift feel/quality is very good.
lt's a shame it's not like Shimano where you can shift up with your index finger.

Brakes seem fine once bedded in and it's the first bike l've owned where l've not felt the need to change anything after purchase.

Tyres are plus size and a bit of a novelty. They seem to roll well over rocks etc once you get the pressures right. The bike was delivered with the tyres at 35psi !!

A better pressure is 20psi, where they make for a much smoother ride.

The battery is in the downtube and once l had adjusted it so it fitted correctly it looked great, although l am not convinced that the waterproofing is as good as it could be.

Longest ride l've done is around 30 miles mostly off road with a friend, the battery just about made it home.

In mixed use (on/off road) l can get three rides of around 15 miles on a single charge.

400 miles in, and no component failures or other issues yet.
Of course there shouldn't be on a bike costing £5,000 but it's nice to know it's been fine.
