just an update, I removed the top protector completely and replaced it with the scotch rubber tape, it's working great and looks much better, also no more chain rub

Piggyback shocks have more volume so cope better with heavier hits (at least that's what I understand)

With the weird bottle cage screw layout with the one on the tube and two at the bottom, it seems the only compatible bottle cage is the canyon own brand side loader one. Am I missing something and it's just a different type?

It arrived today, assembly was easy, everything was there. Came with various tools including a shock pump. The rear brake needs to be bled as it is pulling all the way to the bar and the front brake rotors are rubbing against the disk but I'm not worried about that cos it is rubbing evenly and...

Thank you for the fantastically detailed response it's very helpful :D I think I will probably just go for the CF 9 as whilst I can probably upgrade the cf7 to a similar or better standard for the same price the time and effort doesn't entirely seem worth it
