Giant Trance Advanced E+ elite 1 vs Heckler SL

Interesting choice to have to make, without throwing a leg over either of them: The Giant has a reliable and well liked motor, but their frames can lack high end finishes and details. On the other hand, SC make possibly the best quality frames, but feedback on the Fazua has been pretty mixed...

    Reign E+ 2022

Speaking of shocks, I am sending my Novya back to get checked/serviced, the knocking got worse and worse. I think part of the issue is the eyelet is a fraction of a millimetre larger than the original, and the weird maestro mounting is causing some rattling. I could see the paint was a bit worn...

Everything about the 2022/2023 Giant Reign E+

I have been riding a Novya coil shock for a few months now, slightly too stiff in order to prevent pedal strikes. I actually think it is a bit less comfortable than my stock float x, especially on mid sized bumps, but small bump sensitivity is in another realm and I'm beating all my times up and...

Miranda 150mm Cranks for my 2022 Reign.

Regarding the torque: I believe it is 50Nm, as above my wrench tops out at 30... That said, the original OEM cranks were a nightmare to get off, the non-drive side in particular required me to stand on the wrench+ push my weight down by pressing off the ceiling!

Miranda 150mm Cranks for my 2022 Reign.

I am on my 4th set over 3 years and 2 bikes. If you really smash them into a rock you will slightly bend them, you will be able to finish the ride. I much prefer to have the crank bear the brunt of such impacts than the motor. There is very little reason for alu cranks to cost more, even...

    Giant reign 2022 frame cracking

Well obviously that sucks, seems giant UK and NZ are getting fierce bad press lately, hoping Giant France are better when it's my turn eventually. But I'm really curious, what kind of trails/jumps/drops are you hitting to break so many bikes (based on previous posts)? Is there always a crash...

2022 Reign E+ shock dimensions confirmation

I'm on 500lbs spring at 76kg, but going to swap to a 475 this week and try to lose a few kg (I'm usually closer to 72kg weight). There is a giant reign coil weight thread if you search, most people were 80kg and had 500lbs.

2022 Reign E+ shock dimensions confirmation

Personally, I just bought a standard 205*62.5, I will say even with a heavier than ideal spring I am beating all my times up and down segments with a coil shock, no pedal strikes (due to heavy spring). I really wish we could do custom shocks or even custom rocker, but that doesn't seem...

    Giant Reign E+ headset

Got the shop to replace the old one, they clearly used the wrong kit (for fox forks with the reducer) and only replaced the bearings, "new one" is already creaking after 3 rides... This is my first bike from a local shop after 3 direct sales ones, had forgotten the frustration of dealing with...

    Great call, I'll try that!

    Reign E+ 2022

Hmmm, after 4 rides with the new coil, I now have a very clear knocking/friction when activating the shock. It happens about 2-3cm into the travel. There doesn't seem to be any obvious play in my bearings or loose bolts. Anyone ever had something like that happen to them? Asking as I would like...

    Reign E+ 2022

I have the stock Zeb RC forks on the bike, but changed the travel to 180mm. Had to do some weird air bleeding in the lowers to get full travel, but they currently feel very good. The shock comes with a free service next year, I will probably send the fork and get a custom compression circuit...

    Reign E+ 2022

Well, that happened... And then this happened: And then this happened: Absolutely smoked all my times, there are a few segments where only the pros are ahead. Despite that, I think my coil is too stiff, I was recommended a 500 spring, which feels amazing on small bumps, but harsh enough on...

    Giant Reign E+ headset

Thread revival: Has anyone had massive creaking in their headset? Bike is only 6 months old, not sure if I could expect a replacement for free from Giant. The top cone shaped piece is a bit scuffed, and the bottom crown race being open is not a sign of high quality in my eyes. I have...

    2023 Giant Reign E+

Update on this: my local bike shop told me my EX511 is very tired, it is just under 2 years old and has been treated horribly (bike park days here and there and big-ish jumps constantly). That said still no dents, just very hard to true straight.

    Reign E+ 2022

Amazing thanks! So the more recessed dial fits then. I'll go with the Novya so, like you said, the custom tune is worth a lot

    Reign E+ 2022

Just received a Vivid Air Ultimate... Doesn't really fit into the frame, the rebound knob touches the frame at the bottom and the gigantic adjusters at the top mean you need to offset your water bottle. Technically, the rebound knob is just a little hex key that can pop out, so the shock could...

    Reign E+ 2022

What freehub and number of gears? Generally speaking, SRAM XO1 tends to be a good buy (especially in 11s), it has the durability of XX1 (significantly longer than GX), so in terms of dollars per miles it is on par with GX, but much lighter. Also, it is a good idea to change chains every year...

    Reign E+ 2022

I weigh 77kg and have never used an "ebike" specific wheel despite using turbo/boost almost 100% of the time. Most reputable hubs will be fine. I'm using an EX511 rim which you would find on a EX1700, rim has been great, I only have 28 spokes which I think might be too low, a lot of truing...
