Real carbon fibre fabric. I buy it from a local shop called fiber tech. Amazon has it also.

finally got a new motor guard from Cube and immediately skinned it with 2 layers.Definitrly getting better at it but still can’t get the folds perfect. Made sure the folds are at the back so not too obvious. It added 40 grams to it if anyone cares. 2 layers carbon and 3 layers epoxy

Not sure about the thickness,they call it 5.8 oz. so I glued the first layer to the original shell then epoxy then another sheet then more epoxy. Just air dry.It looked fabulous just like that without sanding

What I have done is skin the original bash plate in carbon fibre. The cloth and epoxy cost under $100 (CAD) That got me enough to do at least four covers in 2 layers. Super easy to work with. Probably another rookie question, but shouldn’t the bearing be sitting right on the race?like touching? There’s a 1or 2mm gap there

In this shot you see the bearing on the steer tube with a tiny gap where I thought a crown race should be..what do you think?

Thanks for the reply, there is definitely not a crown race anywhere to be found. Just wondering if some bike builders do this or did someone forget to throw one on? Pretty sure I could add one easy enough.

Stereo hybrid 160. I took my fork off to clean things up and there is no crown race on it. Is this normal? It has the 56mm bearing just sitting on the steer tube and another up top with a steel reducer. Everything seems to work fine so just wondering.
