Either way, I did buy a E8000 display and that didn't work either.
I also didn't like the fact it was larger than the 8000, although I never rode with it.
Thats very useful, thanks. I never did get it working. The new motor arrived before, and although I've been meaning to have a play, I've prioritised riding over stripping it down! I have now got the shimano PCIE interface and was planning on installing the motor and updating all the firmware at...
Very true, but on my bike at least, they have shimano branding on which I wouldn't have thought a frame manufacturer would add? I'd therefore assumed they came from shimano, which would make sense as it's just part of the bike design constraints, the same as the bolt mounting pattern etc. Of...
I recon that would be a very good solution, although would need someone who is far more capable with CAD than me.
The other option is to get covers from a different bike. I was told that they are unique to each frame, but I just can't believe that.
You might want to check all the plastic guards / covers would fit. I tried to replace a e7000 with an e8000 and whilst it physically fitted, the covers were way off and would have been a complete bodge job.
Still, awesome news if it is possible! As you say, opens up a whole new opportunity to...
I was told by my LBS who is a shimano service center it affects the torque sensor, so if not set correctly will give either too much or too little power under normal mode.
Not convinced it alters the walk mode power based on gradient, but could well be wrong! That's just based on them not being...
Update: I've downgraded the firmware using windows to 4.4.0. 4.5.0 only seems to install an uninstaller .exe?
I can now use the app to change the settings but still get the same error with the windows app.
Hi Vadll, I'm trying to change the settings on an E7000, f/w 4.7.4, using ST unlocker on windows. It can read the bike values fine, but when I go to 'update settings' is comes up with a popup box saying 'connection issues'.
I've tried it with 2 computers now, both do the same. ETube can change...
It doesn't surprise me - the EP8 is meant to have more power than the E8000 (yes, i know officially they're both 250w, but...) and that takes extra energy.
If I have the PCE02 hardware, can I adjust the market settings and circumference without needing downgrade the firmware or buy a licence for the ST unlocked app an an E7000?
As an update, I tried it with 2 E8000 motors and neither would turn on. I managed to connect to the display (via Bluetooth) by plugging the charger into the bike which then powered the remote switch and screen. I could see the serial number of the motor, so don't think there was a connection...
My bike has been in for a warranty claim on the motor for the last month, and was told the other day the new one won't arrive for at least another month. Someone I know bought them selves a spare E8000 (new) motor off of ebay recently, and offered it to me to tide me over.
I've just tried...
Its finally happened - dead motor.
Having bought the bike online it wasn't realistic to take the bike back to the retailer, but I have found a local shimano service center who so far seem excellent. Took the bike in, they said they'd check the diagnostic and then send to shimano. Should be...
You can slide the insides out by taking the end caps off. Think its 4 torx screws from memory.
I haven't seen inside the L version, but would guess its the same with a spacer. Only way to find out is to take it apart and have a look!
Out of interest, what are you planning on doing with the old...
As above, there is a different charger you can get which will reduce the charge time by half. Its about £150 from memory.
Well worth it of you need to charge other than overnight.
