I agree, take it back to where you bought it and start the process again and hopefully a new report will not show any unauthorised software.

Shimano replaced my E8000 motor free of charge on my 3 and a half year old Merida e160 even although it was 18 months out of warranty.
I took it back the the dealer where I bought the bike and he contacted Shimano, I think the fact that I hadn't derestricted it helped my case.
After my experience I think it would be worth trying the place you bought it from first
They may offer to replace the motor at a discounted price if you purchased it new from them

The mechanic said usually when they ask for the motor back they replace it
Its not a warranty job as such as its out of warranty and I need to pay the labour
I think it's been around 5 or 6 weeks in total
7th of Feb i dropped it off so not too bad really
I work offshore on a 3x3 rotation so I've only had 3 weeks without it, I'll be picking it up on my drive home from Aberdeen next week
