I certainly lost some leg strength after getting an e-bike. Problem for me riding my Slash is that unless it’s downhill, it all feels like I’m biking in slow motion.
Now spring is here so I started riding a road bike to work. That gets the legs going again.
Was it trail riding or commuting (or both)? Probably more than 95% of the time spent on my Rails are off road on single tracks. I hose down my bike with a gardenhose, never power wash it. I’m not sure why the motors fail, but I suspect water coming in. They have all (mostly) thrown different...
Hi.
I ride in the snow in the winter, but I always carry the bike inside my car to avoid the road salt they are using up here. I think the wet autumn is probably worse than the biking in the cold with snow all around.
I think it’s crazy how expensive Ebola’s are. My Rail 9.8 cost 1/3 of my second hand Model 3 LR. My Tesla runs very well, I’m on my second Bosch motor already. I’ve had 3 Rail 9.8s and I’ve never had a Bosch motor last more than a year on either of them. I had them replaced for free, but still…
I bike with studded tyres from December to march on snow and ice. In the beginning a loose more studs as there are more rocks around. I use Nokian Piikisikka 29 2.6 or 2.8 on my Rail. The 45north tyres seems to loose studs faster than Nokian. Wrathchild is a bit better on pure ice, while Nokian...
I must be in a minority, I never bought any of my bikes any bling. Just replaced parts and tyres😬 Have friends that dresses their bikes to the nines though
It might depend the country. I have it from the Bosch boss here that we have 5 years warranty on the motor, no matter if the bike is resold, as long as you have the original receipt.
I’ve been through 3 motors on one of my Rails. Usually fixed in less than
A week
I think it’s quite difficult to change the odometer. You should be able to tell from the wear of the bike if it’s used a lot or not. The Bosch batteries lasts well. Longest I’ve had one was almost 2 years. Always charging to 100%, and I could barely tell it had lost any mileage.
Let family members now where I’m going. Spare warm clothes, a headlight and a powerbank in my backpack. Ideally ride with someone else, but i often ride alone as Im a freelancer and have time off when no one else does😬
I’ve had 2 Rails before the one I have now, and I charged them to 100% every time. The one I had the longest was around 2 years (used it all year round around 3000km) and I didn’t notice any significant drop in battery range. I did the same to my Korean electric car for 6 years and the range...
I would say the Bosch gets you longer than the Shimano (625 bat )We are a big group and the ones with Shimano motors (Merida e160s) started to complain of shorter range after a year. Often they would have to turn around while the Bosch gang (whyte, Rail, Mondraker) kept on pedalling. I...
I think lower assist level dosent help much. With higher assist level (emts/trail) you just have to ride faster. It's easy to get comfortable (specially in a group), but I usually just try to go really fast when I'm on my ebike, and that gives me a great workout.
