I'm a big fan of ex army goretex, I've a pair of trousers cut down to shorts. Imo if you're getting covered in mud and grit why pay loads? The lightweight goretex jackets are good, hard wearing and cheap to replace. ???
I've bought 5 chains for my bike, yep FIVE! Cos it seems to eat them and I saw some 12 speed sram and kmc for £20 each ? paid £40 for the sram xo1 and it lasted just as long as the oe ?
Some interesting points there folks, re the quality of the bearings I suspect there lies a bit of cost cutting. But in theory if I'd serviced them with a bit of grease more often I think they would have been OK. I don't wash the bike with a pressure washer or strong mains directly on the...
I'm replaced both front and back wheel bearing that's failed on the disc side. Speaking to my local dealer he said that's they've never had a problem with brake heat killing bearings. Tbh I was surprised at that! Anybody else find this? Keeping on top of greasing bearing more often now ??
I suppose it depends on how bling your bike looks with those fancy fox forks and bright paint job? Why not apply a bit of camouflage to tone it down? Not mud and twigs but a bit of self amalgamating tape wrapped round the bling. I've got it round my rear triangle to minimise chips when I fall...
I got one of the mobi v15 pressure washers and clean mine before it goes in the van. Wet fresh dirt is always easier to hose off right after the ride ? a quick dry down with an old towel and straight in the garage when I get home ready for next time ??
Sorry big lad but I totally disagree with you on that. Fitted the new chain and it feels great, the rear cassette is steel anyway so no slipping. I'll continue to change the chain at 0.5 but hopefully the XO1 chain will last longer than the last nx chain did ?
I bought a park tools cc-4 checker. So a quality tool imo ? there's an in depth article circulating on here recommending the best chain, tool and wear indication for replacement

Gonna change to choobless on the stereo to see if it's as over rated as I found on my old fashioned bikes ? tbh I'm only doing it cos I've some sealant left ??
