Maybe we should move our mullet results acros to the Rail mullet thread in the Trek section. It would be good to compare how others are finding the setup. With the crap weather, local forests closing for harvest & a dose of the devils plague I haven't had good chance to try mine out. I'm...

My bike shop told me ther is only one machine in NZ that could change the settings for my mullet & they prob wouldn't do it because i can change back to 29. Sounds ridiculous to me so taking that with a grain of salt but what did you do?

Kia ora bros. I've just mulleted my rail which I've had for the last couple of years. Weather has been so crap last couple of weeks that I haven't had a good thrashing yet on it however with the short ride I have had I know I'll be happy with it. Gets round the tight corners really quickly. The...

    Fed up with tubeless.

Is the tape punctured when you take the tyre off to redo it? If the tyre lever is in line with the spoke when fitting stubborn tyres it can penetrate the rim tape. This of course has never happened with me...

Hey, i'm a financially irresponsible Trek rail 7 owner from Wollongong, Australia (and loving it haha)

I'm a sceptical kinda guy myself when it comes to the latest & greatest sometimes & in fact years ago got myself out of favour with my motocycle forum after doing some very basic experiments & calling BS on a new fangled suspension gizmo which I'd spent good money on. Anyway I'd recommend you...

Hey, i'm a financially irresponsible Trek rail 7 owner from Wollongong, Australia (and loving it haha)

Thats the immediate impression I got with my upgrade riding along my gravel driveway. Out on the trails the difference was huge. Heaps of plushness & great to have the ability to open up the LSC for the easy-on- the-wrists cruising & then dial up the HSC for the trails that need it. I'm a...

Heart says Rail7, head says Merida e160 700…which way would you go

Over here in nz ( same distributor) the shops are already selling out with preorders. The lbs wanted 45 meridas they got 25. Delivery date between “December “ and March. I’m not holding my breath for before February. The local tracks here are tight and rooty too and after riding the mullet am...

Heart says Rail7, head says Merida e160 700…which way would you go

Yes & no -I'd walk away from my Rail after the ride with a warm glow until I looked back & saw its' cringey colour scheme- thats why I had to paint mine- I didn't like looking at it ;-)

Heart says Rail7, head says Merida e160 700…which way would you go

I've got a Rail 7 (with lots of upgrades) & just put a deposit down on a E160 700 for the wife (hehehe). They ride differently - the E160 is lighter feeling & turns in quicker, the Rail is more stable & feels heavier but has great handling. The Bosch def is more powerful but that wouldn't change...

WHYTE e-160 RS v3 Or TREK Rail 9 GK

It's never occured to me that there would be bikes that wouldn't charge with the battery in? I assumed they were all like the Rail. In hindsight after having a rattly battery & only taking it out a handful of times I'm not sure if having the easy battery removal like the Rail would be that...

WHYTE e-160 RS v3 Or TREK Rail 9 GK

Ive got a Rail. Both are good. I went for the 29er - suits the tracks around here, wouldn't go back to a 27.5 now

    Mullet pedal strikes.

great article. I can't see how the OP is getting more pedal strikes - if he was dropping the rear down a size then yes. I measured a 40mm difference in tyre size dropping from a 29 to 27.5 on the rear.

    Rail 5, jumping limits??

Just send it!!!!! Have a look at Kyle & Aprils vids on you tube if you want some great advice. I've found going from an analogue bike to EMTB with more momentum that when you finally come to land you've over shot the landing by about a metre.
