Hi. Welcome to the forum. Nice bike! I’ve got a non-motorised Giant Trance (which I don’t use much anymore LOL). You’re in a fantastic part of the country for an EMTB!
You’re going to love it - and I’m picking you’ll have another one before too long. I bought a Merida Eone Sixty and my wife...
Welcome Mik and well done on the purchase! You're going to have a lot of fun.
I'd be inclined to try out the standard tyres and see how you get on. My wife and I use our MTB tyres on the road a bit and they are fine. Maybe not in the wet so much but we don't do much riding in the wet. Having...
I haven't come across anyone with an E-One sixty who isn't very happy with it. The Shimano system is well engineered, rides very nicely and lasts. Although the battery isn't fully integrated like others, there are some advantages in terms of ease of removal and possibly future availability being...
Hi Dave. Welcome to the forum. Hope you have a lot of fun on your new bike. There are so many great stories on here of how EMTB's are allowing people to get into, or back into, mountain biking.
We are spoilt for choice in NZ with some amazing trails. My wife and I are doing some of the West...
I use a Abus Bordo alarm if I'm out and about and have to leave the bike unattended (e.g. If I'm in a cafe). Combination of reasonably secure and portable foldable lock with a loud alarm if anyone starts fiddling with the bike.
Hi Rocky. Welcome to another NZ'er. We could form a club with husband and wife EMTB's couples here in NZ. There are a few of us on here. My wife and I both have Merida Eone sixties - the 800 version. We're loving them. So far they have been very reliable. I would have been tempted to get the...
Hi Pete,
Welcome to another Kiwi. There's quite a few of us on here.
You get paid to test ride EMTB's! Wow. How did you swing that?
Where are you based?
I'm tempted to give it a go :)
What's the ride like? It's probably not going to be any advantage off road (at least for me) but there are times on road where a few extra Km/hr would be useful (like when you get passed by road bikes).
Very clever. So if I understand it right, the processor will pass through the speed pulses unchanged up to 30 Km/hr and then keep the pulses at the minimum width between pulses over 30Km/hr. So your speedo will top out at 30Km/hr but the bike won't?
Yeah and it looks pretty much the same bike - even the same colour. Can you see any differences? The claim the frame is better. The 800 has got a chain guard fitted now. Mine hasn't got one - but I haven't missed it (yet).
These bikes were well priced originally - maybe to seed the market. Now...
Great stuff. I see that Steve Jones from the EMTB YouTube channel is Welsh. He's done a few rides around the Black Mountains. He started a recent ride from Llanthony Priory. That was one of our favourite places in Wales. Beautiful and historic.
EMTBs are getting more popular here too. The guys...
Yeah Old Ghost Road looks amazing. But it's about 80 Km so you'd need to do it with two batteries. And you'd need to do it in good weather to avoid the risk of dieing of exposure if the weather changes! I saw some guys on YouTube choppering in. That would be fun.
That E8010 battery is a good...
Yeah sorry about that. What are you doing over there in Wales Kiwi? I lived in Cardiff for about 4 years way back in the 80's. I'm not sure they even had MTB's then! Must be some good trails around your way.
Ha. More members of the NZ Merida EMTB Spouses Club Mike. It's funny how people change their minds when they actually ride an EMTB. Most people who dis them have never ridden one.
