    Tyre losing pressure

Seriously? I have a REAL mountain bike and I NEVER have to put air in my tires! Real men use SPACE! No more flats, no more pumps, saves weight, adds 2" of suspension and has the added benefit of a nice breeze which blows up between your legs on a hot day. NOTE Not suitable for...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

It really depends on your weight and the type of riding you do (do you notice the side wall flex on fast berms?). I run my tires at F18/R20 with Cushcore which stiffen up the sideways considerably. I weigh 175 lb. If you are riding in rocky terrain with lots of sharp edge hits, like to drop to...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I ride on a mix of damp loam, dry loam with loose small rocks, potentially slippery roots and pretty grippy granite slabs. Once a tire has worn its edges off the center section, its time to change it as it not worth crashing and getting injured over a few dollars. I ride Maxxis DHR II 3C...

Is there another way if the bead has been pushed into the center all of the way around the rim and its still too tight to pop the bead over the rim by hand? Tires can't be that soft. Well... they never used to be that soft that a plastic lever would damage the bead of the tire. Installing...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

The only way I can see that a tire could develop a wobble, with the wheel remaining true, would have to be that the tire shifted the bead on the rim. This wouldn't happen on my setup as I run Cushcore. Assuming you are running tubeless, you could try letting all the air out of your tire and...

What is a "600 mile assegai"? I use Assagai 3C EXO+ and DD MaxxGrip on DT Swiss EX 511 and RaceFace Arc30 rims without any issues with running them tubeless. Installing the Assagai 3C EXO+ and DD MaxxGrip with Cushcore is also not too difficult. DH tires with Cushcore can be a bit of a...

What do you mean by "fail at the bead" ?

I guess I am buying last year's stock from the Online dealer. I have sent them an email sharing my disappointment.

Which tire was that? I only seem to have problems with the Assagai DD tires. I have only used Maxxis DHF 3C DH, DHR 3C DH and DD, EXO and EXO+ tires which have no wobble.

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I can't say that I can feel the wobble when I am riding down a lumpy, rooty and steep tech trail but ride quality will always be highly subjective. If you ever get a chance to be 8 - 10 feet in the air for a few seconds, doing a 35'+ table top perhaps, you will most certainly feel the wobble on...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I think its might well be the weight of the casings that are the problem. It seems like who ever was running the machine that builds the Assagai 29" DD and maybe the DH tires which are the only tires which have a built in wobble.

    Tyre sealant

Which ever sealant your pick (Stans is the best cuz they were the first and they cost the most ;)), you will have to stick with the same product as they don't mix. You should also pickup some Bacon Strips for holes that won't seal with sealant alone.

Which Maxxis tire was it? I have never had a problem with any DHR II 3C DD 27.5", DHR II 3C DH 27.5", Assagai 3C EXO+ 29" tires which I have all run Cushcore in them for over 2 years without any issues. I only seem to have a wobble with the Assagai 3C DD 29" tire. It makes no difference with...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I only have experience with Maxxis tires and Cushcore so I can not speak to the other manufacturers or tire models but I have installed over 50 tubeless setups, most of them with Cushcore, and never had an issue I could not fix with a little soapy water on the inside and outside of the tire and...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

Is it just me and my setup (+Cushcore) or is anyone else had any trouble with Assigai 29x2.5 3c DD tires having a wobble in them when seated on a rim? I have tried with 3 tires, on 2 rims (which are true) and each tire has a wobble when spun up. This can be a tad disconcerting at speed, when...

    Help with tyre pressures

I still wonder how much sealant gets into the tire guages and affects the readings. I know I can take it apart and maybe clean it out. Its the putting it back together that would be the problem.

    Help with tyre pressures

I totally agree. I have a few guages that read different pressures but the two that match are my floor pump and the one I bought off Amazon shown below. I know I run low pressure (elbow sqeeze test on hard ground) but I defininitely tell when its too high as I feel my tires bouncing and...

    Help with tyre pressures

While I try to enjoy the scenery as much as possible when running low tire pressure, my experience has been different but based on different goals. For instance, it was my experience that with DH casings in the bike park on 26" wheels, I was running 20 PSI with heavy DH tubes. I will admit it...

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I used to think a DHR II EXO+ with Cushcore would be sufficient for an enduro rear tire until I tore a 10mm slice into the tread cruising down a hard packed trail with a little lose shale. I ordered a DHR DD and a DH for riding Bike Parks. I would like to try a Michelin but we cant get them...
