Sounds as though the outer seal is worn and letting in water though the seal, on through that outer bearing and then onto the main controller board. Its the same fault I get every winter. You can normally begin to see an ever slight movement toward the motor of the peddle if you try and force...

If water has entered the motor then you may need to replace the ribbon cable ( usual symptom of the ribbon cable failure is the motor gets hard to turn on and off ).

Err30 is normally a fault between the display and motor. I get it sometimes if the connector becomes ever so slightly pulled out of the display ( tree branches and bramble tends to slowly dislodge the connectors on the DPC245 ). Perhaps check that the connector is fully inserted into the display ?

That looks normal as the seal pushes in from within the case. You need to measure the distance from the position where the spider sits on the crank outwards to where the circular raised area is on the case. I would suggest your crank is sitting to deep towards the non drive side for some reason.

Be a bit careful with the spiders that do not have that wide flat just beyond the engine case. I tend to have an engine failure each winter riding in the mud and slop we have in the U.K. I have put that down to using one of the spiders with the non flat section. That scooped out area allows the...

The EBICS M820 version starts here https://endless-sphere.com/sphere/threads/foc-open-source-firmware-for-bafang-can-bus-controllers-with-gd32f303-processor.128869/page-24 I can’t seem to locate where the two CAN bits had the controller on one and the other on the next bit. I remember reading...

It comes up max figure, I can’t remember what the figure was. On the EBICS thread only the controller has a temp sensor and not the motor on the M820, I’ll see if I can locate the point in the thread it was discussed later today.

As you know your widget won't display the controller temp on the DPC245's as discussed with you. Bafang doesn't display the controller board temp, not sure how we can display the temp, open to suggestions here ? Maybe a small bit of development on the widget could solve it as I think the...

The EBICS developer has already discovered the power limitation of the M820 controller board, that of only having 6 FETs handling the power whereas the M510 / M560 has 12. I wonder if this latest board Bafang has gone to may have the 12 setup of M510, there certainly seems too many M820 motors...

    GOBAO ECVT EMTB Mid-Drive Motor

Can we wait until we get some actual trail time in before making those sort of assumptions. I would doubt there will be much ride time difference between a conventional FF and one of the latest designs. Interesting to see Gaboa go down the 52V route which has long been the go to for the...

Bafang M510 RS - discussion, tuning, firmwares

Efficiency will be probably similar to the Pinion as any energy has to be used by either heat ( friction ) or transferred to the output shaft. Think of it as both motors driving the output shaft having a similar efficiency as 1 motor only. This new jump in technology will be all about the...

    GOBAO ECVT EMTB Mid-Drive Motor

The only way energy could be lost from the smaller motor is through heat (friction ) or for its energy to be absorbed in helping the main motor. In simplistic terms it’s far better to think that both motors are driving the bike forward as any excess energy beyond heat will be outputted to the...

    Dengfu E10 + E23 Carbon Fullsuspension E-Fatbike on Bafang M510

Same in the UK with all the mud and grit damaging that one drive side seal on a too regular basis. I've taken a slightly different solution. Some Bafang 104mm spiders have a flat face extending out about 30mm which conveniently mates to a round protruding section of the engine casing, it...

Be interesting to do say 200miles and then compare the motor noise. My M560 is definitely quietening down compared to new as did the M820 motor I have.

    Bafang M560 FC2.0

Mine is only a few months old and supposedly the Quiet version but annoyingly loud at higher rpm. I’ve done a couple hundred clicks on it now and it has quietened down considerably than when new. I know my M510 took over 500 kms to really settle down but this is more electronics than mechanical...

    4th derailleur in 14 month

As a breaker of Shimano XT derailleurs ( they are cheap and plentiful and who needs any more than 10 speeds ) there is something I'm becoming aware of. On all the damaged ones the tension clutch on the outer arm has become too restrictive over miles and puts a lot of tension on the Derailleur...

Bafang M510 RS - discussion, tuning, firmwares

The EBICS firmware FOC Open Source Firmware for Bafang CAN bus controllers with GD32F303 processor is getting mature enough and tested enough to now probably be the way forward if people want to tinker with all parameters of the M820, M510, M560 series engines.

    Slow forum access/BT Internet

I have had a similar issue for some time now using Firefox and it’s advert reducing technology. Switch off the add restrictors and the forum downloads normally but I have to say I’m getting fed up with the volume of pop up adds that now are appearing.

Gears are heavy, planetary with 1 drive motor and 1 very small motor controlling the speed of the planetary will give us all the range and control we need.
