When lockdown started I stuck to riding on the roads for exercise. Road cyclists slogging up hill REALLY don't like being overtaken by an EMTB... Never had any grief off road just the odd funny look which, to be fair may not be solely down to the bike. :D
The one thing that bothers me with my Trek FS7 is the Gen 2 motor. Great power and assistance but the fact that once you get to 16 mph and its like riding through treacle. It's also a mid fat bike that makes it a bit unwieldy and draggy. Apart from that I think it's a good bike and I got a...
Ouch! If the battery compartment is damaged contact Trek, I most definitely would not try charging! When I first got mine (FS7 though, not a Rail) the battery compartment latch was tight and in the end wouldn't lock. Took it to a LBS and it was a combination of the internal cables interfering...
Would you recommend fitting this upgrade whist motor is still covered by the manufacturers warranty, I take it if there was a problem it wouldn't invalidate it?
Be interesting to know how the OEM‘s calculate max weight, it might be a FEA of the frame or some sort of real life stress / proof test? Or maybe the max strength of the weakest component. I’m sure that the max weights given will have a large safety factor in to cover any risk.
Anyway, diet...
My pump has a collar that attaches to the shock valve and then a second knurled ring that actually engages the valve. Means you can connect/ disconnect pressure without removing the pump. Is the a similar feature on the Rockshox?
Haha brilliant! Much the same here, 6'4" with legs up to my armpits riding a medium frame Orange Evo 26". The saddle had to be positioned ridiculously high. Good bike though.
Hopefully someone with a Rail will answer, I can only say if it's anything like my Powerfly FS7 then you'll most likely have to take it off. The cable on mine is routed past the motor and was so tight you couldn't even pull it through to extend the dropper. When I was trying to figure this out...
I took the OEM tyres off over the weekend after 7 months of owning the bike. Partly I was concerned that the sealant would need topping up and more importantly because I wanted to shove on new tyres..
Taking the old ones off I found there was a significant amount of sealant left, at least 200ml...
When I bought my Trek the LBS charged £20 to cover the tape and sealant. Probably over the odds but I'd had enough of arguing over the price at that point!
I’d be lying if I said I’d never ridden footpaths but in general I try and keep off. A lot of footpaths here (especially peaty moorland) see heavy use and to see them get mashed up with mtb tyres is not great and only strains relations. I won’t get into inconsiderate walkers and runners on...
I've seen the 'off' setting on my ebike but just assumed it was just there for the novelty value? I like to luxuriate in Turbo and don't care if I'm spoiling myself rotten :D
