Well, I think that's it for me...

I'm on a Heckler SL. Love it. If I was buying tomorrow, I'd probably buy a Vala but would look hard at Avinox because it builds into a lovely looking bike, like the Forbidden, or the upcoming Orbea or any of the other brands we all 'know' are coming but aren't official. It reminds me of the...

🚴 Why Don't You Ride to Work or for Everyday Commitments?

    1. Chuck the bike in the van, drive to work, finish work and drive to the local trails, go home. 2. Van to work, get home on a nice night and take the road bike out for a few hours. 3. Van to work, weather’s a bit shitty, come home and take the gravel bike out. 4. Van to work, come home and...

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

They probably don't need a power update for that at all to be fair: 750w at a cadence of 70 needs about 100Nm of torque so as you say, no increase needed. Do you really want a 6x multiplier though? I know you said it was an unpopular opinion, but I can't figure out why anybody would want it...

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

It was just an example of where it’s happened before and I don’t think would be a bad thing. I realise it’s distant memory now… At the time, it felt to most of us luke a good idea. You can’t help but wonder if the spotlight was on, and played a part in the introduction of graduated licensing...

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

120Nm would still provide full support with 750w cap at lower cadences, under 60 or so, and then start tapering off as the cadence picks up to about 90Nm at a cadence of 80. I rode my ussasisted bike yesterday for the first time in ages. It was really hard work, I'd forgetten how slow they...

    Santa Cruz Vala

It would be great if the new colours are also launching with a bigger battery as rumoured in the same form factor…

Have Avinox given us a good thing (or not)?

There's a tommychype video of him climbing Snowdon on the M2S. I think most walkers on the hill will look at him as riding inconsiderately, and if we have a lot more of these doing it it because they can, then I think we could start to see action taken on access - although I don't know how it...

Have Avinox given us a good thing (or not)?

I don't think I have an issue with the torque and power numbers on the new Avinox as such (or the others that are there or going to follow), but I do think some of the multipliers we're now seeing are virtual throttles really. 50w>400w or 100w>800w is completely unnecessary, in my opinion...

    Santa Cruz Vala

I've got 38 Factory on my normal bike, and Lyrik Ultimates on my Heckler SL. Both are great forks but I prefer the Lyriks: small bump compliance off the top is lovely, and I don't know if it's flex in the chassis or something else but they just feel more forgiving. I'm 90kg, so not light...

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

The range on the SLs is a problem, for me at least. In the default middle setting, I get about 3,000ft of climbing, typically about a two hour ride. If I turn it down to Eco to give me more range, I think I'm about as fast on my Firebird without the hassle or weight. The way the Fazua...

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

I was out in the woods again tonight on my Heckler SL. On all of the tight, technical climbing I'd have lost traction with anything more than Trail (or River, whatever Fazua call it). I'm probably going to buy a Vala next week because I want more range, but where does everybody who wants...

Where does Avinox go from here?

Maybe. Equally, it might be more profitable for DJI just to offer any new motor to the highest bidder, with exclusivity for a given period, without any of the risk of being a cycle manufacturer and all that brings.

Bosch Gen 5 Rumour - More Power updates coming!

I've been riding a Decoy since 2019, and I'm on a Heckler SL now. I'll probably go full fat again, most likely a Vala or a new Wild with Avinox (if that's what's coming). The Decoy has 70Nm, capped at only 450w - boost on the Decoy is still stupidly powerful, in my opinion, but the power cap...

Where does Avinox go from here?

I wouldn't be surprised if Amflow disappear, once DJI have enough OEMs buying their motor - which seems to be about now. I don't imagine they want to be a bike manufacturer as such, and think they developed the AMFLOW to get the motor to market, generate interest and prove reliability. The...

    Share Your Decoy Range Anecdotes

I did the same (or very nearly the same) ride on Friday. Middle setting of Eco this time with about one or two miles of Trail combined where the trail got a bit nadgery. The battery had only just dropped in to one bar at the end of the ride, showing another 16 miles of range despite an extra...

49 miles, 3,800 ft of climbing all mostly in the highest configuration of Eco, and the battery ran out one mile before the end of the ride.

    YT Decoy thread part 2

"One more issue is the charge port that is placed under the downtube, kind of tricky to get the charge port protection on some times" Rub a little Vaseline around the outer side of the rubber cover, needs doing every 10 charges or so. Slips straight in and stays there...

YT Decoy first ride review: A brilliant ebike with outstanding performance

That’s nuts. I’ve ridden a Yari with 3 and 4 before, it felt like it ramped up much quicker than what’s on the Base. :)

YT Decoy first ride review: A brilliant ebike with outstanding performance

I think the stock Yari is perfectly okay. I have settled at about 28% sag and I’m reaching close to full travel where I’d expect (the oh shit, I didn’t get that right moments), and its supple enough on low speed hits. It’s no where near as bad at blowing through the travel on mid-speed...

YT Decoy first ride review: A brilliant ebike with outstanding performance

My Base arrived today. Really well packaged, everything boxed nicely and logically laid out. Everything was set up, just the bars to put on, brakes to swap left to right and then whack the mech on. They were the easiest wheels/tyres I ever converted to tubeless. Valves were included...
