What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I ended up with a 29x2.4 Magic Mary and a 29x2.4 Big Betty. Both in Addix Soft and Super Trail.

    Shock bolt stuck and rounded

I drilled from the other end too with no help? just no photo of it! It was so tight my drill wouldn’t have had the initial power needed to unwind it. I had a 40cm lever on that extractor and I was jumping on it with my full 200lbs.

    Shock bolt stuck and rounded

Epoxy failed, drilling failed. Or well, it helped when I drilled deep enough for the 10mm bolt extractor to have enough grip. Tried with a smaller extractor first but almost went through the bolt and it didn’t come off. All in all reason was lots of loctite under the bolt lip and bolt shaft.

    Shock bolt stuck and rounded

I’ll try the drilling if this fails ?

    Shock bolt stuck and rounded

I think this is a hollow bolt, not sure if there’s any material to drill to inside the threaded part ? I stuck an allen key with epoxy into the bolt head and will try if it works in a few hours...

    Shock bolt stuck and rounded

So, bought a new shock and tried to uninstall my DPX2. Haven’t taken it off since I bought the bike and it’s apparently pretty stuck. I tried first with the correct size hex but eventually with enough force it just spinned around and rounded the bolt head. Then I hammered a Torx in there and...

    27+ versions are available but can’t find a 29er.

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

Michelins seem to be hard to get at this point. But a slightly wider rear works? I would take a 2.6 front too but find them lacking in bite and grip on damp/wet conditions compared to a narrower front tyre.

What tyres? The Ultimate Tyre Thread

I ran Eddy Currents last season and for the sake of sanity when installing I will try something else. Thinking of trying MM 29x2.4 at front and Hans Dampf 29x2.6 at the rear, any feedback?

My motor is going in for a warranty repair.

    Decoy Warranty Fail.

A direct sales brand should have superb customer service with no exceptions. Things like this battery case really put these brands off, I have considered a YT but will not anymore. It’s not enough that the customer service works well in, say 96% of the cases.

Lupine SL-SF hard wired light review, one month in....

Got any beam shots? Worried a little about light next to the tires.

Lupine SL-SF hard wired light review, one month in....

Yeah I really liked the beam pattern of the SL F. The newer SL X has a wonky pattern which puts me off. I also have a Lupine Wilma mounted in my helmet so there’s plenty of light if I need it. I think I’ll get the F one.

Lupine SL-SF hard wired light review, one month in....

Thinking about buying this light too for my Bosch. Have you liked it? I was about to pull the trigger on SL X but the triangles and bright spots seem really bad.

    Bosch CX Gen4 noisy

Took a short video where it doesn’t sound the worst it has sounded. There was next to no workload for the motor and the trail was flat. It was much quieter before I hit the 1000km, I barely noticed it on the pavement when I was going easy. Now it seems to be even louder when going easy than when...

    Bosch CX Gen4 noisy

I have the newest update. And to my knowledge that orange bikes motor was changed to a new one and it’s silent.

    Bosch CX Gen4 noisy

Yeah I already made a warranty claim this morning. I think I will attach my GoPro somewhere in the frame to record the change in the motor sound for the LBS as it’s not there 100% of the time yet. But it sounds like a broken or soon to be breaking electric motor ?

    Bosch CX Gen4 noisy

Bumped into this and it’s exactly how mine intermittently sounds; So if I understood correctly Bosch have used aluminum bearings instead of ceramic ones in some units to save weight and it’s apparently been a bad idea.
