Hawai'i Legislation prohibiting more than 750W on public roads

I just came across this article for clear definitions of E-bikes according to Hawaii Legislation. https://www.khon2.com/local-news/e-bike-law-changes-hawaii/ A notable paragraph says "Devices capable of speeds over 28 mph or with motors exceeding 750 watts would be considered “high-speed...

Bosch Smart System Derestrict - Long-term Success?

I had the same setup. The key thing is never use Flow app that connects the phone to the motor. They can detect how fast you are going by the GPS of the phone. Don't even install Flow because it could run in the background.

Are you serious ! You think I am posting in pursuit of monetory gain ?...I have no Idea who @EbikeDoctor.I had Speedbox installed and got flagged twice by Bosch FW. So I did not want to take a chance for a 3rd time. I had @EbikeDoctor convert my Corratec Bosch Gen4 to USA FW but still did...

Absolutely NOT ! I got my bike UPGRADED to Class 3 From Class 1. (25 to 45km) The Flow app adjusts the speed, so no chance of getting errors...

Yes I am glad I did it because today I tested it and I got up to 43 kmh until my legs gave out 😁 Could have easily reached 45 though !

Nothing to do with region. The firmware does not check where it's at. Once you make the change it will work wherever you are. I was in 25km limit région (Europe) and now I got 45km support. I believe class 3 gives you that ability. That is also allowed in Europe for Class 3 ebikes.

@EbikeDoctor Did my bike, Converted to 45km max without halving Wheel Circumference. Thus you will see the correct speed in Flow app and no chance of getting errors.

Wrong ! you need to halve (divide by 2) the Circumference to go twice the speed. Half distance at same cadence Bosch FW will think you are going half speed than you actually are.

Derestricting/tuning E-Bike with Bosch Cx motor

I had heard it's never recommended to update if you have Speedbox connected or not.

Derestricting/tuning E-Bike with Bosch Cx motor

I've had Speedbox chip installed. Worked for a while. I made the mistake of using Flow app and Bosch flagged it twice and put it in the limp mode. ( I guess flow app can detect the speed from the phone 😁) I did not want to take a chance for a third flag which would brick the bike so I installed...

Does this RESET the error logs entered previously due to Chip tuning like SpeedBox ?

In my case My wheel parameter is set for 2300mm which is roughly 29" tire. My bike set for USA standard 32km and yet I can hardly get support at 29km ! I could live with cut off @31km but 29 ? That is malevolent on the part of Bosch !

Okay I see what you are saying and may be it is exactly how you describe it. However, since I come from a Computer Field where I spent a good 25 years of my career, I find it really odd that a specific parameter (Wheel Size !) is totally ignored by the firmware and assumed to be different than...

Assuming the wheel size is set in the configuration in the FW, if the person decides to use a different wheel size then the spec limit set by law (20mph USA, 25kph Europe) has no meaning. Furthermore they will have to adjust the firmware for every brand since every company uses different wheel...
