Taking your battery that low is a great way to trash the battery. If you stop using the batterty around 15% or so remaining you'll preserve battery life.
That's exactly the noise I heard when I demo'd the bike today. Happened at the top of hard climbs- up to 25% for 15-20 min. Probably because the motor is getting hot. Sounds like a mechanical grinding noise like the bearings are going or the gears are worn. Would be really interested in what...
I did a factory demo on the bike today in Santa Cruz. Rode 5 laps at UCSC, 4,200' vert and had two bars of battery left, I figure about 30% battery remaining. I was probably putting in about 180-200 watts on the climbs. Climbed in River, descended in Breeze. The motor has plenty of power...
I had X01 AXS derailleurs on two bikes and ended up going back to mechanical X01 derailleurs. The AXS shifter interface felt vague and imprecise to me and actually slower than mechanical. Mechanical feels direct, positive and fast.
I've been setting up the new KSL and found that the top tube is so horizontal that my shifter and brake levers hit the top tube when I get the bar height where I like it. So I channeled my inner MacGyver and fabbed a top tube protector out of 8 layers of 5.8 oz carbon twill. The carbon looks...
I had been waiting for the Relay for months, but seeing the funky build spec and the likely weight, decided against it. Pivoted (no pun intended), and just picked up an S-Works Kenevo SL with a full up weight including legit Maxxis tires of 42.0 lb.
IMO, Transition made a mistake with the...
Charging overnight or when you’re away from the house isn’t a good idea. Charging Li-ion batteries results in a lot of house fires every year. Charge when you’re around and awake and get a smoke alarm to alert you if the battery overheats. I’ve seen LiPo batteries for RC airplanes go off like...
Yep, confirmed with Specialized that the lifetime frame warranty and 2-year components warranty transfers from the date of original purchase as long as you have proof of original purchase (receipt, etc.)
Good question on components, and luckily I already have most of the stuff. I'll swap in...
Looks like I'm joining the crowd boys. Hopped on a KSL at a bike shop to pedal it around for a bit and it felt great. Cockpit nearly identical to my Pivot Firebird but with 20cm longer wheelbase. Most of the time I kept the motor off and it felt like a proper analog enduro bike. When I pedal...
So basically it's a bike for fit riders who like pretty things? Could fit me well. I ride my analog bikes three times a week, and God knows I've acquired a long list bikes, airplanes, cars and women primarily because they look damn good. Of course, not all of them stuck... :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for the well-considered reply, great food for thought. Thinking about the KSL holistically, perhaps the best perspective is not to compare it to a FF ebike, but to an analog enduro bike. From that perspective, the KSL is basically an analog enduro bike plus 10lb. that takes about half...
