    Rail (625Wh) Fourth time lucky?

Like said, damage is inevitable but it’s pretty disappointing when you take delivery with chips or other defects in the paint, it just takes the shine off new bike day. Apparently the first was the best of the bunch, maybe I should have just gone with that one in hindsight.

    Rail (625Wh) Fourth time lucky?

I ordered a Rail 5 Gen 2 back in October. The first bike turned up mid November but sadly there was a paint defect on the top bar. Since then the Trek dealer has ordered in two others which also had similar issues (I’ve not seen them though) and I’m currently waiting for the fourth to arrive. Is...

Other 2023 Rail - thoughts on spec & pricing

When I was buying my Gen 2 Rail 5 the guy at the Trek shop brought up the Gen 3, it has the latest Bosch tech and a price increase but I didn’t look in any more detail. Think it has a June/July release date.

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

Good to know, my OCDs probably just cost me £50 for no real reason but it will be interesting to confirm which parts work if others want to do the same. 😅

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

Thanks Wow thanks dude! I could probably have drill the existing one or maybe removed the buttons and then used some strong tape to stick it down but thought I’d try and answer the chip question. So from what I understand all pre 2022 bikes were 58 degree, and all 2022 onwards Rail 9s are 72...

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

There is a 72 degree non block chip but can’t find a blocking one. Trek dealer wasn’t sure either. I’ll work it out though, it’s all part of the fun. https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/equipment/cycling-components/bike-headsets/trek-knock-block-72-degree-headset-non-block-frame-chip/p/33867/

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

As you say it does appear that the parts are hard to come by and it doesn’t look like you can buy the chip independently so you have to by the whole headset assembly. Also not clear which degree to go with, seems to be 58 or 72.

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

Thanks for the heads up on the knock block chip! Don’t suppose you know the part number for the chip with the two alignment holes?

This is the bracket I’m hoping to use by the way. Trek Knock Block Mount for Bosch Kiox Display | Trek Bikes (GB)

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

Thanks - that’s good know. Was worried based on a couple comments on here and suggestions elsewhere to move the controllers away from the lever to gain some slack that I’d need to invest in a new one.

Rail (625Wh) Kiox retro fit top tube mount

I have a Rail 5 on order from Trek Bristol and I have also just received a retrofit kit. Trek Bristol kindly offered to fit the kit before I collect. I’ve noticed there is a Rail specific top tube mount, would I need a controller with a longer wire to use this mount? I spotted in another thread...

Can you replace the Bosch Purion display with a button only type controller

Is there a part number for the Kiox controller with the longer cable? I’m going to grab a Trek top tube mount for mine when my retrofit kit arrives but from what I understand the controller cable is not long enough.

Rail (625Wh) Rail 5 RockShox 35 Gold RL Fender mounts?

That is frustrating, thanks for the warning. As I’m PPFing the whole bike I should be able to safely fit a guard with cable ties without any rubbing. 🤞

Rail (625Wh) Rail 5 RockShox 35 Gold RL Fender mounts?

Yeah that was my original assumption but there are versions for sale that specifically say they have fender mounts and are also visible in the photos, in fact it seems to be the EMTB version that have them. Trek is probably using the non-EMTB version...

Rail (625Wh) Rail 5 RockShox 35 Gold RL Fender mounts?

It sounds like that is the approach I’ll be taking too unless by some miracle the latest bikes use the fender mount variant. 😄 Think my safest bet is to wait for the bike to arrive before I order the fork PPF. I’m bound to order the wrong one if I don’t.

Rail (625Wh) Rail 5 RockShox 35 Gold RL Fender mounts?

Just ordered a Rail 5 which will be my first EMTB and full suspension bike. I was hoping to fit a RRP Proguard front fender, ideally without cable ties. I am also going to grab a ride wrap PPF kit for the frame and forks. I see that there is a variant of RockShox 35 Gold RL that has fender...
