Knee and Elbow pads - help!

Hi, Will. I have been riding with G Form knee and elbow pads for a couple years now and like them quite well. They're easy to put on and to remove and, at least for myself, once they're on, I almost forget I'm wearing them. They are moderately priced, and probably not great for riding risky...

Any experience with the Luna Z-1 Enduro?

Hi, swiftdaddy, I picked up an X1 Enduro last July from Luna's El Segundo, CA location. At first, I wasn't happy with it for mountainbiking; it had some kind of wonky pedal/cadence program that didn't work at all for mtb'ing, imho. Anyway, it was a simple firmware change that fixed it. Also, I...

    What's your age range?

No problem. I'm proud to say I'm a 72-y/o mountainbiker. It's pretty much what keeps me going. But crashes are a bit less desirable at this age, as they take longer to recover from and I don't learn anything anymore (just kidding).

    2022 Rails

I ran into the same dilemma in trying to get info about putting a coil shock on my '22 Rail 5; they claim they can't tell you anything unless you bring the bike, physically, into the store which makes no sense to me. Also, they told me that a 625wh battery, which is standard on the 7 on up...

    I am already tired of......

Another retort is, "When you (complainer/detractor) start riding here on a rigid bike with coaster brakes (ala the original Marin mtb group), then you can have your say." Or, I simply remark on how fun the uphills are.

    I am already tired of......

There have been at least two studies I've heard/read about that thoroughly debunk the idiotic notion that one can't get proper exercise on an e-bike. It is often not as intensive as riding an acoustic, but heart rates go up significantly and muscles get strained, and that's what many of us are...

Tubeless tape... wtf am I doing wrong?

I have Alex MD35 rims on both my bikes; one bike has 27.5 wheels, the other is a 29er. I use Gorilla Tape and have had pretty good results from it, but I had one rim on each bike that just wouldn't hold air. I fixed one by putting extra tape across the rim at the weld junction, as that was where...

    Aggressive thread reply posts

I concur with you 100%, my friend. I've left other forums for the same kinds of "behavior" you discuss here; there's simply no need and no place for it here, or anywhere, imho. I'm of a similar age and riding background (30+ yrs) as you indicate you are and I have no tolerance for that kind of...

Don't feel sorry for me, pal, I'm perfectly happy with my situation here. I've ridden in and after rain, hail, thunder and lightning, and snow, and I don't care for any of those, I'm not a fan of the massive clean up afterward, or the damage mud and grit can do to componentry. So, you have fun...

    Not much for online forums

I'm retired, I have all the rest days I need or could want. In So Cal, the rain is rare; and for the hot days, I can ride from the Coast highway (PCH) a short ways inland-very few days in the year I can't ride. It's like biking paradise here.

Only thing as good as mountainbiking is dogs. Great looking pups.

Just had some less than stellar experiences with some other non-bike-related forums in the past; I fully expect this community to be of a higher caliber. Thanks.

Trek Rail 7 - Marzocchi Bomber CR coil shock

I'm having a devil of a time getting info on what coil shock will fit my Rail 5, and what added mounting hardware, if any, msy be required for such mod. I'm on a L frame. Any help is appreciated. My first choice was the Zokes Bomber, but it seems that won't work according to what I've read here.

    Not much for online forums

That said, mountainbiking is my passion, I've been at it 30+ years; started when I was 40, so I've been through much of the evolution of the sport. I currently own 2 ebikes; a Trek Rail 5, and a "customized" Luna X1. Updating and upgrading is a theme with me when it comes to my bikes, as I have...
