maybe that's right, but the instruction do tell you to leave it on, so that it can "work out the distance properly"
Maybe there isn't, I don't know, but there is this instruction in the manual:
"Is the total mileage correct even after removing the module?
Yes, the total kilometres measured by...
indeed, the first three times you "just" need to ride for a couple of hours to get rid of the limp mode, but the fourth time I had to take it to the dealer. The thing is, it does not happen immediately, so you install the dongle and you think that it is fine, then a few hundreds km later you get...
I did have a badass dongle, and got 4 Error 504 at short distance from one another... that is the reason I am now trying volspeed 4, which I am told should be less prone to that.
The only downside (so far) with my volspeed 4 is having to leave the bike on at the end of the ride, which I understand is needed to foolproof the software against the dreaded error 504. This can be a bit of problem when I am out for a long ride, because it can take over 30 minutes for the bike...

I've been just over 50kph many times on my volspeed 4 No codes so far. Probably ridden 150 miles so far.
Useful to know, but still early days. My first 504 with badass came later than that. Keep us posted!
Is the 75 —> 85 nm upgrade a special software upgrade or does it automatically come with the upgrade to the latest firmware? I had mine done around may/june 2021, I think to 1.1.0.0, so I am not sure if I have the 85nm upgrade or not, or even if the bike already came with it (bought in may...
I installed a Badass box on my Tree Allant+ 5 bike, it has a Bosh CX performance motor but I don't know how to find out which generation (if anyone can tell me I would appreciate it). I bought the bike a year ago.
Initially, I set the speed limit to 50 km/h, error 504 after a few hundred km. I...
Hi All, I am considering getting a volspeed V4 for my Trek Allant+ 5 (Bosh CX performance bike). I have asked directly volspeed.de about the error 504, and they say that no-one has reported any so far, but reading this thread I am not sure if this is actually the case, any advice?
At the moment...
well, thanks for telling me that your experience is more valuable than mine, now I will certainly take on board what you are saying. perhaps I have hit a couple of users
thanks for explaining that you are more experienced than me, again, I will certainly take on board your thoughts now.
thank you for clarifying, now I definitely know better what I am doing with my motor.
let me rephrase the whole topic and then I'll stop, because quite frankly is becoming an exercise of a mute speaking to a deaf.
remove the de-restricting devices, so let's restore the bike to their original...
yes, I know all that. but before I had to compromise my badass to a limit of 32 (to avoid the infamous error 504) I had it set at 50, and so I could cruise to 35-36 also with bosh, and I was very far from the limit. What I am saying is that 35 on bosh required more effort than 35 on shimano...
I usually cruise at 35-36 with my shimano, with bosh I am now limited to 32, but even riding at 30 requires more effort than at 35 with shimano. You can clearly feel that it is a software issue, as you get a nice power burst every time after you have stopped pedalling for a while, but then the...
well, clearly I meant on the highest possible assistance on both, i.e. "turbo" on bosh and "high" on shimano. If I have to ride for 50km continuously, and I am not looking for a training session but only a leisure ride or a long commute and just want the minimum possible effort at maximum...
oh, sorry, I had not realised that in the real world there are no people who ride 10k plus km/year on commuter bikes, I guess I'll just shut up then.
Perhaps I'll just respond that, as for riding ILLEGALLY, all I am trying to do is to squeeze a few km/h extra from my motor, hardly a crime in a...
