I have the 23 ultimate DH and had a 450-550 progressive msr. It was too spongy off the top. Put a 550lb linear on it and feels way better. I think that in combination with they hydro bottom out will work perfect.
Just installed a super delux ultimate coil 230x65 on my 2021 9.8 with a SAR 600lb SAR spring.
It feels a little stiff. I need to ride more. I’m coming off a 2021 dhx2 with the same spring it felt softer.
Anyone try the new rockshox ultimate coil yet? Btw it clears fine on my large.
Thanks! I’m in the PNW and absolutely love my rail. But I think I would enjoy the fuel exe more. Especially if I could swap out range extenders if I needed.
What are you guys getting for elevation on highest assist mode? I typically do 2000 ft in about 4.5 miles on fire road with my rail. It takes me about 25 minutes to get to the top in turbo. I’m wondering if an EXe could do it or if it would need the range extender.
Started with zeb select 160mm. It sucked felt like it was wielded solid even at 55 psi.
Refreashed the lower with low friction seals and 170mm air shaft. Still sucked.
Installed the ultimate RC2.1 damper. Was better but still felt harsh with very little compression dampening.
Installed smash...
I’m running 180mm smash pot and push AC97. 27.5” in the rear with 165mm DHX2 shock. In high position. I love it for PNW downhill knar. It’s made for the hardest downhill trails and tears them up.
I hate mine. Trek rail 9.8 with zeb select. Upgraded it to RC2 2.1 damper so it’s an ultimate now. 170 air spring Refreshed the lowers. Even installed a smash pot tried 3 different springs. It’s better but pales in comparison to my fox 38. It’s paired with a fox 2021 dhx2 165mm with progressive...
Mine sucked felt horribly stiff with factory settings. 180mm on 9.8. I swapped the damper to the RC2.1. Put low friction seals in. Running 55 psi no tokens it still felt increasingly harsh compared to my fox grip2 on my nomad. Changed the air spring to a smash pot. Pretty good now but I run no...
I would check chain length, when I received my rail the chain was too short. When shifted into the lowest gear, the largest cog, disconnect the rear shock or let the air out and compress fully. Mine would have snapped my chain at 50% travel compression.
My motor was a complete bitch to install after removal. I had to tape the cables to where they needed to be, install the motor, then pull the tape out. Took an hour at least just to get the motor in a place to line up all the bolts without pressing on the cables. Trek 9.8 2021 large.
