They've been documenting it from the start. I found it really interesting seeing the all the problems and rebuild issues they have had to face. Covers a lot of topics which don't get talked about much. I'll probably never ride there but I wish them well and am glad they are re opening.
I had this on my old E8000 motor but never really figured it out. Some people talked about the motor overheating on sustained climbs but again. I never proved this in any way. I know my E800 used to be a bit like a two-stroke, as in you had to keep a fast cadence to almost keep it in the power...
Bet you never knew Afan had a beach ? Ok, Not strictly true. An evening visit to Aberavon beach before a bit of a mashup the next day of firetrack and single track at Glyncorrwg centre. Good for the soul:)
Seat height will be wrong. Only about 10mm or so. The short cranks will feel weird out of the car park, then you won't think about them again.....until you have a pedal strike.
I've been riding with a Vorsprung Smashpot coil conversion for over a year on two seperate bikes and I don't think I'll go back to air anytime soon.
The levels of grip and feel compared to my old (but new) fox 36 are just mad. you really start to push the limits of what is sensible! You will...
I sold my E8000 on fleabay last july for £145. The torque sensor failed in under 600 miles. I split the motor and took good pics for ebay so you could see the condition of the gears etc. It didn't take too long to sell if I recall. Ignore usual chancers, low bids. swap xbox etc.;)
Yep, GF's cube did it quite a while ago. Luckily we weren't that far from the car. Took it to the excellent Race co and they cleared it on the laptop in a couple of minutes. Deristriction error (not), never done it since, totally random .
Well done Rob, great Vid.
How about manufacturers commit to sustainability . All spares being available for a much longer period of time (5+ years min?) so we keep a healthy second hand market going? Not releasing motors for general sale is just baffling!
Here's my version, self adhesive foam ( 1mm I think) with duct tape on the part that hangs down so it slides and heli tape on swing arm for wear. I didn't think it would last that long but its been on since August!
