Am 7 months post a major surgery and aged 77. Rode my Espark round Preston Guild Wheel today as the second ride post op. Had changed back to a lighter tyre and loved the bike again as with the company I was with had hardly needed assistance.
May I open a can of worms? Why do Ebike riders...
One possibility to look at is an Emtb by Isla bikes. Don’t go off first looks - there is no suspension and a step through frame. It is lightweight and during the photo shoot for the catalogue I lifted it over a five barred gate on my own.
The front forks are carbon fibre and it handles like my...
May I throw in a curve ball? Aged 72 I finally admitted my gender dysphoria to the world and started transitioning. Eight weeks ago today had my gender surgery and now have restarted riding aged 77 BUT WITH A LADIES SADDLE. Over the past ten days have ridden 80k including a fair amount off...
I am still riding at 77 though during Covid been riding solo and staying within my limits as A&E departments are to be avoided.
Using disc brakes as a drag brake only overheats the pads - set my rear brake On the mtb tandem on fire once on a long technical descent. The idea is to brake enough...
Eco high
Trail High
Boost low
90% of riding is in eco. Use trail for bits of fun.
Just updated the firm ware and can no longer feel when assistance switches in - note the avoidance of the phrase kicks in.
Have also changed to E7000 buttons. Not used to it yet and on bumpy terrain can...
Touch wood but haven't damaged any for a while. a few years ago I was sent for a chest xray due to a persistent cold - when I visited the doctor , he took one look and asked "
Just had a short test ride after changing to e7000 shifter. So far am impressed though not yet got the muscle memory to avoid glancing down. Preferable to the sticking older E8000 shifter. Tried a deliberate walk mode climb and had more control - always felt that the original shifter seemed to...
Have had a similar problem once. I live in a fairly wet and muddy area and managed to get some fine particles into the battery charging area. Both I and my dealer (Cooksons in Whitfield) couldn’t clean it. Was sent to Madison and returned within days at no charge to me. Somehow they managed to...
Got to admit to tricking a walker some years ago. At a gate on a bridleway was a sign showing a walker crossed out (ie the end of right to roam) he asked me what it meant. Keeping my face as straight as possible I suggested that the track was closed to walkers and rode away.
A recent shot of me on the new Islabikes Ejimi. No suspension but a superb carbon front fork. Only had a short jaunt for the launch photoshoot and hoping to have a real test ride before long. Was impressed by the handling and the fact that I could lift it over a five barred gate on my own.
The easiest way to protect the chain is to change gear when your stronger leg is at top dead centre - at the point there is little load. Learned this the hard way when my partner on a mtb tandem decided to stand up for power at the start of an x/c race at Innerleithen.
Am 76 years young and been riding my Scott E spark for almost two years. My friends in the Bradford area refer to it as the Milk Float due to the noise from the Shimano E8000 motor. Also have an ICE trike with an E conversion for fun.
