Perbhaps removable mudguards. It won’t be muddy if it’s frozen! Not ideal but there maybe a workaround.

À company called Autosox developed in Norway make a fabric sleeve for car and truck tyres. They don’t make them for bikes but I wonder if the idea could be adapted for MTB’s.

I’ve used Stan’s Dart tool kit once to seal a largish hole left by a nail I picked up. It’s a sort of umbrella shaped plug and is supposed to integrate with the sealant. It worked really well for the life of the tyre.

Has anyone else had the pad fall off the backing ? I am using Purple Galfer on my Magura MT 5's and found them to have really good stopping power and better than the joined up ones.....but after the last ride I checked for wear and found the friction pad had delaminated from the backing plate...

I have done it on the same bike. I used a barb and put grease on the cable and was very gentle and wiggled it through. No breathing during the process but it worked. …..but I have just installed a new version of the AXS and they are brilliant and just work….no fuss!

Isn’t Gortex a separate waterproof membrane? I have seen it some years ago. It looks like nappy liner (maybe is!) and if you make a square of it into a ball in a cup and fill it with water it doesn’t leak. If you reverse it it lets some water out. I believe this is a different technology than...

Yes I realise there is a compromise but the jacket I have is not even resistant……it surrenders if it sees a cloud!
