Other New Trek Fuel+ TQ 120nm Dual battery

I also appreciate the simplicity of the first/second gen display units. I’ve disabled all but one of the display modes so it only ever shows battery percent and the assist level bars at the bottom. Even then, I found it distracting in low light conditions so I’ve applied ultra-dark window tint...

    Trek Fuel EXE overstroke experiences

Right now I’m running 183 psi with 2 air tokens in the progressive air can with fully open LSC, +2 clicks of HSC from neutral and -9 to -10 clicks of rebound from closed. This feels close to perfect for me so far. These settings were selected with that particular drop in mind, as it’s the...

    Trek Fuel EXE overstroke experiences

I’ve been running a 65mm SDU for 2 years on my ex-e. This is in mullet configuration with flip chip in high position. No problems with full travel clearance to the seatstay bridge on the 1.5m drop-to-flat on my local loop. I typically use all but the last 1 to 1.5mm of stroke length on that drop...

Location of the frame number Fathom E+ 2 ?

On my 2019 Fathom E+2 the serial number was on a sticker on the underside of the top tube. I mistakenly removed it while peeling off all the other random stickers that came on the bike on the first day of ownership, so had to get the number from my LBS.

Trek Fuel EXe 9.8 — upgrade fork and TQ60 motor or put money toward new bike?

Have you considered upgrading the stock Lyrik with an Ultimate damper and 160mm air shaft? This would give you the full performance of a new Lyrik Ultimate at about a third of the price. Other upgrades I’d recommend are a 65mm stroke shock and mullet configuration. With the 160mm fork, this...

Trek Fuel EXe 9.8 — upgrade fork and TQ60 motor or put money toward new bike?

    HPR60 = 350W maximum, 300W in a frame originally specc’d with a HPR50. HPR50 = 300W maximum.

Trek Fuel EXe 9.8 — upgrade fork and TQ60 motor or put money toward new bike?

C”mon… you’re still getting this mixed up? It’s not a Fazua Ride 60. Did someone disable half of your CPUs or something?

Trek Fuel EXe 9.8 — upgrade fork and TQ60 motor or put money toward new bike?

Try again @Greg Watts. The HPR60 is fully reverse compatible with HPR50 bikes with the only difference being the maximum power is limited to 300W. Refer back to the lengthy thread all about upgrading the HPR50 to HPR60 from a couple of months ago.

We have watch lists, can we have snooze or hide threads options please? I’m looking at you, Avinox and derestriction threads….

Not too many years back, it seems like there was an inordinately heavy number of threads focused on all things Levo related. The market has evolved. Now the Avinox is all the rage and the Levo is old news. Guess there’s always going to be a hot new product that takes up a lot of the oxygen in...

TQ HPR50 to HPR60 upgrade on a Fuel ex-e: Is it worth it?

You may have already found the error code description, but in case you haven’t yet: Does your update tool connect to the HPR50 and perform updates ok?

    TQ HPR40 motor RESERVE MODE

Have you discharged the battery to zero prior to this incident? That is where the BMS learns the full charge profile…. From full charge, discharge to zero, then full recharge a few times per year should keep the estimates in a reasonable range.

My Trek slash+ is cutting down on power Output when reaching the Last 10% of battery life. Output is just 100 Watts.

Greg was referring to a common issue with the HPR50 that is thermal limiting when the motor gets too hot from heavy output, typically in warmer temperatures. I’ve never experienced it myself, but I hardly ever use output levels higher than 225W. What you’re experiencing is a motor software...

Best rear shock for Trek Fuel EXE trail riding?

I rode on the Deluxe Select+ on my ex-e for two years before deciding I needed a bit more travel to soak up the 1.5m drop to flat a bit better on my local after work loop. I was really quite impressed with it overall, even in heavy, chonky terrain. In very long sustained technical downhills...

Best rear shock for Trek Fuel EXE trail riding?

Note that Greg was off on a bit of a peyote trip with some of his shock length specs there. The ex-e takes a 205mm trunion mount only. Do not attempt to mount a 230mm long shock. 205 x 60mm gives you 140mm of travel. 205 x 62.5mm gives you 146mm of travel. And 205 x 65mn gives 152mm. The...

Other Gen 2 Trek Fuel + (EXE) Official thread.

I have put 27.5” x 3” studded Wrathchild tires on my Fuel ex-e. Not sure if the Fuel+ clearance is identical, but it should be very similar. Clearance for me is pretty tight… about 4mm on each side. No rubbing yet, but I’m also not exactly railing corners in the conditions that require their use...

What is a good upgrade suspension fork for a fuel exe 9.5?

Fox 36 Performance Elite or Rockshox Lyrik Ultimate in 160mm is ideal for trail and light enduro on the ex-e and will give you all the adjustability you could need. The Fox 38 or Zeb would be overkill unless you’re riding heavy enduro/dh or weigh over 90kg and ride aggressively.

TQ HPR50 to HPR60 upgrade on a Fuel ex-e: Is it worth it?

Hopefully it’s not about the final cost, but choosing the right tool for the job. Scott bikes are often criticized for being some of the most expensive outside of the boutique brands anyways if that is of any relevance. Even the ex-e is not well designed for gravel and low angle x-county...

TQ HPR50 to HPR60 upgrade on a Fuel ex-e: Is it worth it?

Edit: actually, I’d want to check on whether the Scott Lumen does have an easily swappable battery… it may not and require dropping the motor. If that’s the case, it might not suit your needs.

TQ HPR50 to HPR60 upgrade on a Fuel ex-e: Is it worth it?

Your idea to carry a spare 360Wh battery and swap when needed would be an effective solution. 720Wh of capacity, only 2 lbs more than the 580Wh in the Fuel+, yet on a 3 lb lighter bike, so the overall system weight would be lower and the frame geometry much more suited to her riding style...
