Just my 2 cents, I activated my new Crestline M2S bike yesterday using the VPN trick set as HongKong and I can ride up to 28mph/45kmh without having to toggle settings. I can't speak to the Obrea stuff but on the latest firmware and app as of yesterday it still worked for me. (I'm US based)

I'll let you know when it arrives but I planned to have it wrapped and built by a local shop. If it was a typical (toss the wheels and handle bar on) I would do it, but from what I have seen I think these come broken down and need to be fully assembled (cables, wiring, etc).
Isn't this the same thing Forbidden did with the Edruid CorE? They had it the power limited set as default but the end user could just adjust it to whatever they wanted. Or maybe I am misremembering.
Just to add a data point, last year I had ordered an amflow via the website and cancelled it like a few days later, I paid via credit card and was refunded very quick.
