Could E-CVT Save the Motor Gearbox Unit (MGU)?

Planetary gears are direct linkages to the rear wheel. It could feel different, but I think it will feel good.

    Avinox Gearbox.

Interesting if true. I'm pretty lazy and I still do my own chain/cassete stuff. There's nothing to it.

    Avinox Gearbox.

Do you think that's why Avinox is popular? Such a motor would get no traction.

    Avinox Gearbox.

I think it depends on what you attach the crankshaft to. If you make the sun gear directly attached to the cranks then I think it'd technically work, but the gearing would probably suck. Planetaries melt my brain though, so I might be wrong.

    Avinox lands on Mars!

I've heard the MTBing on Mars is fantastic. The grit is hell on chains though. Make sure you use a wax based lube.

    Avinox Gearbox.

My main concern with an e-cvt is that I think it'd be terrible/unrideable with a dead battery, but maybe there's a way to engineer that problem away. But even for normal gearboxes or derailers, I can't help but think like 5-6 gears is enough, and that might simplify a normal gearbox.

    Avinox Gearbox.

Let's not pretend it's only government meddling leading to this. Bosch is more than big and rich enough to innovate at this pace if they wanted to. They're just a slow unwieldy dinosaur getting out competed by a young hungry company. Tale as old as time.

    Avinox Gearbox.

    So maybe e-cvt with planetary?

    Avinox Gearbox.

Not sure what changes for you in a hypothetical future where Avinox dominates the e-bike space. How is that different from pre-Avinox when Bosch dominated the space?

'Lightweight' Eeb trade-offs question- Trek Fuel Exe XT

There's really no limit to how fit you can get on an e-bike. Is doing 10 miles easier than on a full fat e-bike? Sure. But why do 10 miles? Do 30. I guarantee you'll get a workout.

'Lightweight' Eeb trade-offs question- Trek Fuel Exe XT

I got leant a Fuel Exe a couple years ago. I'd say the power just isn't sufficient. It's barely an e-bike. I'd look for something like the gen4 levo with RE only levels of performance if I didn't want to go full power e-bike. It's full torque but power limited to 350 watts. Demonstrated to my...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Bought some Praxis 150mm cranks for my Levo. Love them so much. I was getting a lot of pedal strikes with the 160mm the bike comes with, and my last ride I got none. I also feel like the higher cadence/shorter rotations make power delivery a bit punchier in tight bursts. I only wish I could get...

Avinox launch 1500w M2S motor and cheaper M2 motor

I can just tell you that I'd have still bought the Avinox if it was the same power as the Bosch or Levo. The tech features, silence, and power delivery fidelity are what sold me. I didn't even put it in turbo when I test rode it.

Avinox launch 1500w M2S motor and cheaper M2 motor

It's not really a slippery slope. Nobody would want an Avinox m3s if it weighed more but had more power. Almost every customer they have is probably tuning it down from its max. They're already pushing the limits of what you can have in the size/weight and with the same bicycle components like...

Chainring Guard for AmFlow PX, ideas?

Looks like they don't have one for 38t yet.

Who actually wants more than 85nm and 400%

Heh kind of true. All these motors weigh roughly similar, and seem capable of 85ish torque to 150ish just based on software tuning. I wonder if they could even be made much lighter if they actually topped out at 85nm. There'd probably be a market for that, if they could make a bike with 60% the...

Who actually wants more than 85nm and 400%

But if your current bike was worn out, and you could choose the more powerful one for the same price as a less powerful one, all else being equal, which would you buy?

    Replacement Rotors for PX

I was wondering this too in case I don't like the Maguras. So if you add the separate sensor ring the extra 1mm or whatever it moves it closer to the rear triangle frame doesn't matter I assume?

    USA deliveries of PX?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but wouldn't one expect reduced import volume due to tarrifs?
