Help an old duffer find a new bike

I don’t have a local bike shop, I’m happy to maintain my own bike, but obviously draw the line at motors.

Help an old duffer find a new bike

Hi all, bit of a long gap since my last post I know. It’s now 5 years since I bought my Haibike Full7 LT with a Yamaha motor and it’s been faultless, runs as well now as it did when new. But with more upcoming time on my hands, I fancy a new bike and could do with some advice. I’m posting in the...

    Total newbie starting tomorrow

Haha, holy thread revival Batman 😂 Yes I’ve been enjoying my bike over the last few years thanks, though nowhere near as much as I’d hoped to due to a health issue and sort of life in general. Sort of forgot about the forum I’m afraid, just never found the time for lots of things. Different...

    mudguards

Crud XL up front and a (slightly) cut down Mudhugger at the rear. You can see the clear divides between where they protect and where they don't.

    What 'vehicle' to buy?

I do ;) The van is a camper and bike transporter for weekend/hol use. You should try one, you might be surprised.

    What 'vehicle' to buy?

I've got my 2nd Transporter, a T6 DSG, fits any bike in, drives like a car, won't fall to bits in a couple of years like a Transit or Sprinter, and keeps its value amazingly well at trade in time

    Turning the crank backwards

Noob question but why isn’t it ok to turn the pedals forward when lubing the chain?

How was your ride, in one picture and one line?

I like the look of that, and it's not too far from me, is it all off road?

    Crud XL Fender Review

I've got a Crud XL along with a Mudhugger for the rear and finally have a day off work tomorrow so will be fitting them, along with a Brand X dropper and a new front inner tube then and hopefully getting out on it. Just my luck that all the mud has probably gone now as we haven't had rain for...

The What Annoyed Me Today Thread - A Place To Rant

Absolutely mental. As you say, what is wrong with people? Why would someone go to so much trouble purely to stop other people’s enjoyment?

    Can I drill a wheel?

Yeah I've given in and done that.

    Can I drill a wheel?

...inner cleanly and ended up making it unusable. So that's another thing ordered, as well as a track pump to fit the Presta valves. So spent another £40+, achieved nothing, didn't get to go out on the bike at all on an untypical sunny day, and on top of that got two lots of bad news. What a...

    Can I drill a wheel?

I’ve thought it over and you’re right, I’m not going to do it and have ordered the same tubes with presto valves on instead. Just disappointed I hadn’t realised this before when I ordered the tubes as I was looking forward to having a ride today and it could be a couple of weeks before I get...

Missing a part off my Yamaha battery?

Really? I couldn’t see it in the photo as it was so dark, can only see the socket. I have no other end cap and nothing in the box. Edit: Ah I see the confusion now, there are two types of battery and ours is the downtube type which has the cap built in to the lid, so nothing missing. See...

    Can I drill a wheel?

Another dumb newbie question I'm afraid. I'm not getting much chance to be at home to ride my new bike and the last time I rode it just over a week ago I got a flat. Went to pump it up and came across a presta valve for the first time and no pump I had fitted. Ordered a little adapter off ebay...

    Crud XL Fender Review

New to this and as I’m riding through a lot of mud and loose gravel I’m beginning to see the benefits of mudguards, esp one that can be taken off when I don’t want it. I think Ill order this one , but is there a good performing equivalent for the rear that doesn’t look terrible?
