Discounted Bike and parts Thread - cheap(er) ebikes & stuff

Shimano is tighter across the range on performance vs price, especially with the 11spd Linkglide chain being their strongest. Sram on the other hand is miles ahead on their hardchrome'd XX1 & X01, both perform the same but the XX1 gets sexy colours. GX = $50, X01 = $90 & XX1 = $110. The X01/XX1...

Can We Please Stop Attacking Each Other & Being So Defensive Because We Have Different Opinions!

There is not a lot of descent forums left, most f#@ked up by old timers and the FakeBook pages rise with anonymous participants. Sharing all, things eee here has been a revelation to me, I share my pictures, my stories, my location etc.... without ebike haters chiming in. If there is a topic I...

What issues have you experienced on your e-MTB?

Zero, I have never needed to clean around the crank seals.

    Pic of the Day

I have a few Saffa friends that tell me about Cape Town and Table Mtn, that's a sensational pic above the cloud. I'll show it to one I see regularly 😎

What issues have you experienced on your e-MTB?

I know how condensation forms, would it be more wet from rain or puddles for motor ingress. As for controllers, yet again, it seems a wet climate issue rather that just washing the bike.

What issues have you experienced on your e-MTB?

The motor failure in a wet climate is 10 fold to the failures in a dry climate. Its suspected that the motor casing expands with heat and when water is present, it gets drawn in to the casing ? Is that your opinion ?

    Pic of the Day

We have a very dry heat but Darwin on the top of Australia gets 80%+, I've never been there but apparently there is no point even trying to stay dry, you wake in a wet bed and are soaked all day. Sounds great !

    Pic of the Day

Its a common Norn Irish saying when the temp gets over 14°C 🤣 T-shirt, shorts and kneepads, how we live 9 months of the year. I'm in long pants (trowsers) and light jacket at the moment. Got myself a MT500 jacket the last trip home but its for bad weather. Always take advantage of trips to...

What issues have you experienced on your e-MTB?

None motor or battery related. All other issues have been issues I could have with a normal bike. My missus 2017 Giant Full E 1 Pro had a wire break, due to it being stretched as the rear suspension worked, more an early shitty design than common eeb issue.

Agreed ! As a Northern Irish bloke, I can attest that 20°C is the perfect riding temperature.

30°C 🥶 Hahaha... be careful what you wish for. I remember you saying not so long ago... along the lines of about how the sun had just came out after a shit Winter. You do get a humid heat over there so it feels harder/warmer than we get but we live 9 months of the year in 30-45°C... believe me...

Magic Mary Radial vs Assegai: 15 Timed Runs

The Schwalbe Albert radial is an awesome tyre on Summer hardpack, the Mary which I have swapped up front with Albert rear does very well in Winter. At the moment I am on my second set of Kryptotals, last being DH casing SSf/Sr, now on enduro casing SS front and S rear. They are really good tyre...

    Pic of the Day

Another glorious Winters day in South Oz ! We had our coldest morning in 5 years today at 2°C, the sun was shining but even a 1pm ride was chilly when moving. Called in at my local for a few sherbies before the short 1km ride home. Life is good !

With these E-CVT's kill the rest of the market?

Swapping the 36 for a 170mm 38, then a 170mm Podium transformed my PL... that might have been a option.

With these E-CVT's kill the rest of the market?

I wouldn't be holding off on a new bike because of new stuff coming. The speed we are being drip fed new bikes is painfully slow. To think nearly 1 year ago, I considered holding out for a different Avinox bike, here we are a year later and there is only a handful available 'to order' here in...

    Canyon with AVINOX!

My son broke 3 front triangles and 2 rears on his Spectral, the Canyon CS is just about the best I have ever experienced, all replaced within 1-2 weeks.

    Shifter adivce

Multi or single... Depends on your shifting style. A lot of us came from riding normal bikes and I always taught my kids to 'shift the gears like the teeth are made of glass' other words, power off before shift. It still works for me on an eeb but I can understand the industry idea of single...

    The hospital inducing injury list

Night ride in 2009, fell off against a razor sharp shale rock. Cutting a deep flap on my leg so off to the ER for stitches. No big deal  3 days later I'm in agony, my leg is twice the size and the pressure build up started squirting puss jets out from between the stitches, back to the...
