Resurface posts and spacers with a proper resurfacing tool IMO (think machine shop mentality, not hand file mentality). As for washers, I'd opt for dialing in the posts and proper spacers as they're more solid and less likely to have variances. I was blown away by how far off my factory posts...
Refacing did the trick. Night and day difference. Also mobilized the pistons really well and made sure they were pressed back and bled properly. Need to get the alignment just right on these things or you get the dreaded sound. If you look closely with the pads removed, you'll see there's a...
I wonder if they could be tightened with some sort of rivet tool. I'll have to look more closely at mine, but so far they are all still tight. Are there aircraft mechanics or sheet metal fabricators out there who know if there's a way to tighten the existing rivets (or replace them with new ones)?
I like my Magura MT7/MDRP upgrade much better than the factory Code R (which were good brakes but were prone to warping and noise). Magura's have much more predictable modulation and bite point, IMO. Also, Magura rotors don't seem to warp nearly as much when hot.
Magura gets my vote. For me, there's more to it than just coming to a stop. Equally important is predictable modulation so you don't get launched over the handlebars unexpectedly due to a nebulous bite point. Rotor warpage and noise is another factor. The SRAM's that came on my 2021 Turbo Levo...
Same issues. Sag and certain gears make it rub more. (LBS's tend to adjust it on the rack with no sag and no attention to what gear it's in.) Mine clearly isn't centered on the chain ring and I'm tired of the irritation so I'm going to try finding a proper washer or shim to center it on the...
Spot on (all of it). But have your brake post mounts refaced with a Park Tool DT-5.2. Whatever you don't even think about doing it by hand with a file. See my post later in this thread regarding how I successfully resolved my Magura problems.
I just resolved this problem by having my brake mounts and adapters re-faced using a Park DT-5.2 refacing tool. I sent a similar video to the one in this thread to Magura. One of their techs told me they run into it a lot and it is caused by the brake post mount surfaces not being flat and...

A sarcastically humorous reply came to mind but I stopped myself so as not offend anyone with my twisted humor. It's better left unsaid outside of an after-ride round with biking friends at the pub. Glad I could make a few folks laugh at my post. Humor is a healthy thing these days :)
Maybe the hydration pack is a keg of beer strapped to my back??? That would make a good photo in a cush core advertisement! "For those riders with special tire pressure requirements!" :)
Only after a REALLY HEAVY pre-ride meal any way too much beer! What are they feeding those yanks these days??? Forgot to convert lbs to kg. Glad you pointed it out as it gave me a good laugh!
It's a matter of taste but I love them. Gives me more stability and confidence on fast turns (especially off camber). They're heavy (and different). With a 95k old guy, hydration pack, a few tools, Maxis Asg's, on a Turbo Levo I'm rolling around 275kg steaming down long steep descents and turns...
Similar issues. Sent video to Magura tech and was told there's an alignment issue and the mounting posts need to be re-faced. Waiting for refacing tool to come in so I'll see how it goes.
For what it's worth, my 2021 Turbo Levo Chain Guide rubbed in certain gears and was super problematic until I realized my rear shock needed more pressure. I guess the sag was enough to cause the chain to rub the guide. Weird, but got it resolved. Needed to adjust with full weight on the bike...
New to MTB Forum but wanted to put out some info as I landed here in search of answers to a problem with Magura MDR-P brake noise. Running MT7's with Magura spacers and 220mm MDR-P rotors front and back on a turbo levo expert carbon 29er. Brakes are absolutely fantastic except that there's a...
