SPEEDi by nls components. It’s a mechanical “hack” and it increase the speed by 50%. Only downside is that your bike “thinks” it has run 50% longer than it actually has
I use the Bontrager Carbon rims, the "cheap" version. I thrashed one after 5 weeks, got a replacement under warranty and those rims are now on the 3rd Rail. Very happy. The spokes are not the best though. I have broken quite a few on the rear wheel. I used to dent alu rims all the time, as its...
I certainly lost some leg strength after getting an e-bike. Problem for me riding my Slash is that unless it’s downhill, it all feels like I’m biking in slow motion.
Now spring is here so I started riding a road bike to work. That gets the legs going again.
Was it trail riding or commuting (or both)? Probably more than 95% of the time spent on my Rails are off road on single tracks. I hose down my bike with a gardenhose, never power wash it. I’m not sure why the motors fail, but I suspect water coming in. They have all (mostly) thrown different...
Hi.
I ride in the snow in the winter, but I always carry the bike inside my car to avoid the road salt they are using up here. I think the wet autumn is probably worse than the biking in the cold with snow all around.
I think it’s crazy how expensive Ebola’s are. My Rail 9.8 cost 1/3 of my second hand Model 3 LR. My Tesla runs very well, I’m on my second Bosch motor already. I’ve had 3 Rail 9.8s and I’ve never had a Bosch motor last more than a year on either of them. I had them replaced for free, but still…
I have had no problem with walk mode on my Rail 9.8 for at least 6 months. It was very (too) slow in the beginning, and behaved a bit weird. Now I´m on the latest Firmware on the bike, and I increased the speed of the walk mode form (the standard) 3,3km/h to maximum 4,5km/h. As stated earlier...
The solution is to go to a dealer and hook up your bike to the Bosch diagnostic tool. Then you can increase the walk speed up by a few km/h. Did it with mine and it works great
Update: After swapping out all cables and cross checking everything, I could confirm what I feared. Motor was dead. So now I´m waiting for a new motor on its way from Germany. Should be here in a couple of days.
A few factors to consider. If the battery has less than 20 or 25% (I don´t remember) left you get less power from the motor. If you pass the local "speed limit" on the motor (25km/h in Europe) it feels like you have breaks on. One last thing is that if you have been rolling without using pedals...
My Rail 9.8 started throwing errors after 1 year. The LED 300 controller was dead, swapped it for another controller (and did all firmware upgrades) and went biking for one day. Last night controller was dead. Managed to get it back to life with a power bank plug into the usb-c port. Thought...
I bike with studded tyres from December to march on snow and ice. In the beginning a loose more studs as there are more rocks around. I use Nokian Piikisikka 29 2.6 or 2.8 on my Rail. The 45north tyres seems to loose studs faster than Nokian. Wrathchild is a bit better on pure ice, while Nokian...
I just use a regular Bontrager floor pump. Only had an issue setting up a tubeless tyre once or twice, but that was due to seriously dented rims. Then I just took it to the nearest gas station and inflated it there (unscrewed the valve)
