    Raise ebike on repair stand?

I stopped using my stand and just hang the bike with a ratchet strap from the ceiling to work on it now. Helps I have a hoist beam in the garage, but any hook screwed into a joist would do. If I'm taking the wheels off the bike is upside down on the floor. D

Bosch gen5 bikes, which ones do you like?

They all require derailleurs so... none of them. D

    ZF Motor and eco system

I don't understand why a transmission manufacturer wouldn't build an mgu... That's just missed opportunity there imop. D

Air pressure for e bikes on slabs rolls and chunk?

Most of our trails are super chunky with lots of square edged hits and bedrock. I run 23-24 up front and 26/27 out back. Im using dh casing/max grip maxxis tires with cushcore front and rear. I think pressure has a lot to do with rider weight so a heavier person would run slightly higher...

    Crank arm cap seized

A big assed torx bit may fit in there, that would allow you to use ratchet and get some leverage on it. D

    Ebike randomly turns on...?

So a minute ago I was standing at the work bench in the garage and I hear a beep. Turns out my 23 Norco bigfoot vlt (ep8) just spontaneously turned itself on.... I've only used the thing maybe 2x since last winter even though it's set up for summer right now. Last time was about a month ago...

To Thread-Loc or not to Thread-Loc, that is the question

Putting a wrench on a bolt to see if it's still tight is not the same as retorquing it with a torque wrench. You're not disturbing any locktite if you don't turn the bolt. If said bolt was found loose you'd be pulling it, cleaning the old thread lock off, reapplying and torquing to spec again. D

To Thread-Loc or not to Thread-Loc, that is the question

Locktite or no locktite, if you ride your ebike frequently and or aggressively you should be checking your bolts often. Just throwing a wrench on em quick, I do it before every ride, can make all the difference. D

    Spoke replacement

Go to a shop that has a spoke cutting/threading setup and bring the old spoke with you. Done. D

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Its pretty rocky around here but I've had no issues with pins at all. Some are bent but most are still good thanks to how lo pro the pedals are. It's just the bearings that seem to go fairly quickly. I have 2 rebuild kits on hand right now and I've been redoing them roughly once every 8 to 10...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Do yourself a solid and buy a rebuild kit ahead of time. I've had 5 pairs and the bearings go on them quickly compared to other pedals. D

Any other bike brands planning to use the pinion mgu in 2025?

Hopefully they hit the wrong key in the response I got lol. End of 2024 sounds a lot better D

Any other bike brands planning to use the pinion mgu in 2025?

I got a prompt response from Nikolai today, unfortunately the pinion system still needs certification in north America. Hello Darwin, Thank you for your interest in our Saturn 16 MGU. :-) The market in your country is very important to us, and we are committed to providing the best products...

    High rise ebars?

I'm looking to try 50mm rise bars but I'm not finding any with cable routing (shimano) inside the bar like my oneup ebars. I hate the idea of running the cable on the outside of the bars. Thanks in advance. D

Any other bike brands planning to use the pinion mgu in 2025?

Curious if there are any other brands planning to jump on the mgu from pinion. Pinion has a list of 2024 brands using it but I'd honestly only consider purchasing the Nikolai out of the bikes on the list. Even then, I'm in north America so I'm not sure if I could. It would be cool if a major...

    Advice on photochromic glasses please

Another vote for Oakleys. I use the Sutro with photochromatic lens on overcast days and night rides, they're pretty awesome. It just really hurts when you scratch them lol. D

    Shimano E010 Death Sentence

If I wouldn't have put that cheater deal on I don't think I would have had issues either. Had 1800km on it when it locked up, and now I have 1100km on the replacement ep8. D

    Shimano E010 Death Sentence

Battery and connection was good. The beep boops logged all of the discrepancies with the speed sensor and eventually shut the motor down. I had a gear reduction thingie for a magnet at the rotor mount for roughly 800km. This is what the lbs told me.. D

    Shimano E010 Death Sentence

The only time I've gotten a E010 was after I'd messed with the speed sensor to get assist at higher than 30km/h. Even then it took a while and without any warning it shut down one day. I had roughly 1800km on said motor with about 800 of it being with the hack. I'm up to 1100km on the new motor...
