How long do shimano twelve speed chains last on ebikes

1000km seems normal from reading this and other forums, but some seem to do much better, some worse, so makes me wonder just how accurate are the mass produced and cheap chain wear measuring tools . .

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

Shimano say the temp limits for use are; discharge: –10°C - 50°C charging: 0°C - 40°C Operating outside these temps can cause permanent damage. Googling around I found a couple of articles which said storage in temps below -20c can cause permanent damage, in which case most of us in the UK are...

Thinking of getting a H30 today opinions from owners please

The standard bike is a great buy; the bigger battery gaves a great range and everything is spot on for XC trails. Depending on your weight and where you ride the front disk might be worth upgrading from 180 to 203mm. The rear suspension geometry/linkages make it a bit loose at the back but I...

How do you lube the chain???

Turn the drivetrain backwards by holding the actual chainring not the pedals. Or carry a large releasable cable tie to put round the crank and chainring . . or a bit of string . . . shoelace . . . etc

Nice enough round the lanes on a clunker but still waiting for the woods to dry out.

Rain and more rain - reduced to borrowing a manual just to get a ride. Hills are hard work, rim brakes are rubbish, full mudguards are great . . /

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Interesting question: what is the optimum price bracket for an eMTB between super cheap ones that clearly won't hack it and top spec carbon limited edition; for XC+ with small drops/jumps? £3-5k?

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Not sure it's fair to describe it as fashion otherwise any non essential item becomes fashion. It's a sport/leisure activity driven by product function and efficiency although accessories, like for anything, are certainly as much fashion as function. Just look what snowboarders wear 😂

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Exactly the same for motorbikes which are far more complicated with many more components to source and then guarantee . .

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Same - my eMTB mates all said don't worry about the cost because you forget as soon as you ride it out the door . . and they were right! And strangely now I have one I have no desire at all to ride a motorbike.

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

I wonder how many pens like that get sold. I wonder how many Tony Bou replicas are sold annually - I bet it's less than 1000 and that certainly isn't a run of the mill motorbike, compared to how many s-works Levos . . Alloy frames have been around for 70yrs, disk brakes 50yrs - all the dev...

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

I know it's a free market and supply/demand plus competition controls prices but I still can't fathom why a motorbike is so much cheaper. Look at the Tony Bou replica trials bike - alloy frame, monoshock rear, telescopic forks, hydraulic disk brakes - all the same tech but a highly sophisticated...

Is a nice Emtb a bad idea to take camping?

The big advantage is you can ride much further, on steeper trails and more often with an eMTB and if you have any single track aspirations at all then full suss is a no-brainer.

    Chain link tip

Do you not need a working chain breaker to remove the broken link?
