I have an ancient Felt with a Bosch motor that weighs 36, and I can't find anything lighter after all these years. Strange.

I don't think there's a big market for hardtail eMTBs. Most people just embrace the weight and go full suss.

There's this that will be much lighter but also lower power:

How many Welcome threads do you want LOL

I like a hardtail it keeps your skills a bit more in check as its not so forgiving when things go wrong
saying that i haven't had one for a while now :)

I have a 2022 Cube reaction slx 750 hardtail and love it.
I'm going to give cadair Idris and Snowdon a go soon so after that i may not love it as much 😄

Any idea of weight of Cube? They do look good on their site, but no weight given. My ancient Felt, with early Bosch, is 38. Aluminum frame and wheels. I can't understand why it's so hard to get under that.

Not a hard tail, but my Cube AMS Hybrid One44 C:68X SLT 400X. (Bosch sx) is claimed at 16.2kg (35.7lbs), its noticeably lighter (and more powerful) than my trek exe 9.8xt (claimed 18.1kg) and it feels like a twig next to my old winterised levo expert (chunky winter tyres, full large mudguards, probably 25kg), lifting and carrying it is just about enjoyable and I lift and carry it the same way as my manual orange 5 , just cannot do that with the levo.

I have the cube reaction hybrid 2025, and it's 24kg, same as full suspension ebikes.

I (now!) think there is a good reason against hard tails:
Suspension adds weight (1 kg) and complexity.
Motorization adds weight (7 kg) and much more complexity.

Dropping suspension no longer gains you anything tangible, but adds a LOT of stress to motor and battery when you hit bumps.
So I made my Cube street legal and bought a full suspension ebike :-P

About 22kg.
