Bosch Gen 4 Replacement Bearing

Need to replace the driveside bearing on my Bosch motor as it has totally seized due to water ingress.

Will any 6906 bearing fit? Have found the official one (which has a rubber seal on one side and a metal seal on the other) but it's £26 which seems a bit steep! Can get an Enduro 6906 beating for around a tenner.

Also, what grease are people using to grease the internal gears? Is there an easily available substitute for the Bosch specific one?

No doubt Peter (The bearing man) will tell you exactly what you should do and what grease to use.
I believe the correct recomend gear grease is what you should use as it meets all the specifications.
I've never had a Gen 4 in bits as I have just got Peter to work his magic on them 👍
As for the outside bearing, it's just a bearing on a shaft and I have fitted a thousand or more bearings in my working lifetime.
It's the outside seal that does the main job of keeping the water out. And personally I would use the Enduro one and fill it with blue marine grease as it's load bearing and resists water.
Probably the proper Bosch one is designed to have less resistance to help with battery range.
 
Thanks for that. Yeah I can't see why a decent substitute bearing wouldn't be fine provided it is exactly the same dimensions.

I'm guessing the metal seal on the inside face of the Bosch one is designed to reduce resistance but I can't see a rubber seal really making too much difference.

The internal Bosch grease is labelled as synthetic low temperature grease so thinking a generic white synthetic grease should be okay but I stand to be corrected!
